If you want a relaxed atmosphere with some amazing food for your palate, stop by the District Anchor. You will not be disappointed. Everything on the menu is fresh. My wife and I shared the crab cakes/French fry platter. Mostly all crab and barely any fillers. The fries are fantastic. The fried eggplant was by far one of the most amazing delights we had. Finally we shared the seared filet that will rival any high end steak house. The bartenders make sure your glass is never dry and can create any drink you desire.
First time visiting the area for work. I ordered a salad with shrimp and crab that was very good. I wasn't impressed with the clams casino however as they are small clams just topped with crispy pieces of bacon and are overpriced in my opinion. Service at the bar was very good and fast during lunch. The restaurant staff seems happy and it's a pleasant environment.
Went on a Sunday evening around 9/10pm place was pretty dead. However, the service was really quick and friendly. Margheritas were great. Food was good. I kept it simple with a double stacked with fries. Will return again. Keep in mind, menu is huge, think diner style so yeah everything probably isn't as good
Excellent service and an amazing menu. The bartender, Paul, took great care of us. We arrived shortly after the kitchen was supposed to close but he made sure we were fed. We didn't know what to order so he said "I'll surprise you." We were blown away by the food. If we're ever back in DC, this is definitely going to be our go-to spot.
Great spot and looks like it turns into a fun dance club at night!
Went on a late Saturday night. Nice space with good music! I always look for a space to dance and a space to chill and sit. The bartender makes good drinks. Some of the workers are very nice. We got sent away by someone, saying that they were closing early not true. But, one of the workers, maybe security? came outside to grab us and invite us back in and got us a round of drinks! I'd definitely go back for people as kind as him.
Lots of good bottles of beers, great bartenders. Bar food is pretty good, service can be incredibly slow if you miss the lunch rush or the after work crowd. No beer on tap, so beer menu is whatever they bought that morning, and the bartenders have trouble keeping favorites in stock
Love the changes so far with the new ownership. This place has been a staple for me for years f.k.a. Rumors whether for a weekday lunch or HH/bar hopping. I think they replaced the floors...it doesn't smell like spilled beer and Lord knows what else on the floors anymore from the late night crowd :- But still looks basically the same, just feels cleaner and the wait staff is very professional. In the past the food was alright- a place you could count on for a decent sandwich or bar snacks for example, but it's way better now. A lot more high end than it used to be. Great seafood options - I've been twice recently Mar/Apr 2017 and during those visits tried the Fried Oysters, Crab cake, and also the Club Sandwich w/ freshly cut fries - all better than average and really well prepared/fresh. My friend had a cup of chicken soup and joked that my chicken soup was the best he has had, but that theirs was just as good. He also had the ribs and said they were awesome they looked really yummy and tender. I noticed some interesting salads I want to try one next time. I highly recommend for a casual atmosphere and good eats.
This place used to be called Rumors and is still referred to as such, so don't get confused if you hear it. It's got a charming cozy kind of elegance I can't quite put my finger on. All of the food I've had has been very good. Muscles specifically were a pleasant surprise. They stay open for drinks late even during the week when other places close up early. The late night crowd is a lot of familiar faces. In warm months the bar windows are open to the patio as well!
Fantastic food. Great people. Our amazing bartender Paul even made sure we tried the crabcakes after telling him my husband a native South Carolinian had never had maryland crab cakes. Truly the place to go to unwind and chill
