Mechanical problems with first two vehicles. Couldn’t take the first one off the lot. Second one - battery died. Triple AAA told me not to risk driving it the rest of the weekend so I brought it back. Out of the 5 employees I interacted with, 4 were very helpful and were quick with finding replacement vehicles. The fifth was rude. She seems to hate her job, hate her coworkers, hate customers. While I was waiting in line ti get a 3rd, vehicle- I offered to let the people behind me go ahead of me, so a different person could help me They had dealt with her already and wanted to wait for someone else, too. The vehicles were an annoyance. That rude employee - working the Dollar counter this afternoon - that’s inexcusable. Update: dropping this down to a one star. The third car worked fine, but I lost several hours dealing with the two earlier malfunctioning vehicles. The first local agent extended my drop off time by 30 minutes to compensate for delays caused by the first vehicle not working. When I had to return the second car, the new agent said it was impossible and actually changed my drop off time to earlier than it was to start! She told me if I called customer service, they would be the only ones who could extend my drop off time without additional charges. Customer service insisted only the agents on-site can do this. The people who own this company don’t care about their customers. No one who does would leave their employees so ill informed and ill equipped.
Cheaper than others. The wait time to get the car can be improved. They had 4-5 desks but only 1 person working. Why not make this process automated to scan license, accept terms of rental, select gas and other collision damage packages. It’s 2022 and almost everywhere people are waiting for 30-40 minutes just to have basic documentation done!
DO NOT RENT FROM DOLLAR RENTAL CAR. If I could give zero stars I would. They were good in the beginning only to turn into a nightmare!!! We had accidentally left one of our own items in their car, they said they had found it. Come day and time for us to pick up this item, NO ONE IS TO BE FOUND AT THE DESK or anywhere else for that matter!! Phone lines don’t work… the one line that someone did answer, she would hang up on us or transfer us to a dead line always goes to voicemail over the course of a week if our item hasn’t already been stolen, the EMPLOYEES are holding it.
If I could give them ZERO stars I would. Salt Lake City AIrport -My husband and I both told the agent we needed no additional extras. He acknowledged. The agent then tacked on collision and roadside adding $520 in extras to a one week rental. It was printed out in 5 pt font on a form to show the garage to leave with car. My husband and I never read the fine print that these extras had been added. Dollar refused to adjust the invoice. We had paid a deposit in advance and we had an invoice of estimated cost for the rental - the estimate was approx $200 - we booked through ROCKET American Airlines advantage program. No one will help us on this issue. The agent never spoke that he was adding extras - never quoted us pricing for the extras and I specifically told him when we arrived that we had Geico and needed no extras. I am on a fixed income and this is really difficult. I truly believe the agents must get commission on up selling and adding extras.
I was given a 2WD vehicle after specifically requesting a "Full Size SUV with 4WD". It was not apparent the vehicle did not have the necessary drive mode. Also, the tires on the rear were unsuitable. My family and I became stranded due to this. Road side assistance was not able to tow or be of any help. We had to arrange for alternative transportation to get to a safe place. After wasting a day of our vacation, I was able to return the vehicle to the airport. It was an hour + process and was given the run-around. When I returned the replacement vehicle full, I was then charged a $100+ "fuel service fee" which I am disputing. Horrific customer service throughout.
They are private company that asked way to many personal questions. They want two phone numbers I have one made up another. Asked for hotel information why I told them some made up location. They asked for private car insurance company and policy why I have car rental insurance specifically purchased for rental they did not accept as an answer. I canceled and went to the rental company starting with A. The reason for not giving them information is because private companies cybersecurity is not good. They get hacked all the time and your information is at risk of exposure and theft. .
We booked a car through a third party service. At the moment of pick up they charged us $200 extra, and refused to give us the car without insurance even though we already had acquired it through this other service. In the end payed premium for a thing I could've payed way less in other car rentals.
I just finished waiting in line for two hours just to be informed that because we paid with a debit card, there's an extra $300 deposit and a credit check, which of course was in the fine print I'm standing in the corner examining my life decisions, they refused to take a card over the phone, they also refused to refund the money, I was given a number to call, which would be fine, but while my wife and I do ok for ourselves, we're not in the position where several hundred dollars being put on hold for a week and a half, I'm currently stranded at the SLC airport because of these jackballs, I've used Enterprise, Hertz, and several others in the past and there's a reason they are leaders in the industry, and if you read through this and every other review I've seen, that will clearly communicate that this company has no business even existing. The only reason they got one star is there's currently not a negative scale.
Dollar at Salt Lake City Airport, saturday afternoon Labor day weekend - about 30 people waiting for a car amd they have only 1 one person manning the desk!!! Horible - wait time 2 hours so far! I would give them 0!!!
We reserved a car. When we got there, they didn't have it ready and told us it could be up to a 45 minute wait. They told us we could have a different car for an extra $25. We had to get going so the tactic worked. Bad show, Dollar.
