Wait time to pick up the car was just over an hour during Memorial Day weekend on Saturday. There were 3 workers and all 3 workers seemed to have a great attitude. The line felt very long and everyone standing in line was clearly annoyed. Our flight luckily landed early so by the time we got to the counter, we just passed our pick up time by 10 minutes. The worker at the counter was knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. There were a lot more options than I anticipated and I appreciated the worker’s patience. Once we got downstairs, picking up the car was easy and there were no issues with the car. Aside from the long line, it was a surprisingly good experience.
Avoid at all cost. Terrible and slowest service. Waiting time to check in is around 1 hour comparing to other car rental services. They are the only company with more than 10 people on the line. If you had an issue, then they will let you join the line again and start over more than one hour waiting line. Their service attitude was terrible as well. We rent national instead. It only costs us 5 minute to get the car from national.
You will not save money by using this company nor will you receive a better experience by using this company, despite what they want to say with their name. There are hidden fees and taxes, and the estimates they give you on what the extra charges are when you pick up are not guaranteed in the slightest I got charged double the amount they gave me on my estimate. I booked online and prepaid my rental. Once I arrived at the airport, the associate at the desk informed me I would have to pay about $100 worth of taxes and fees on top of the prepaid amount. When they saw that I had a passenger with me, they asked if I wanted to add a driver and said they're wouldn't be an upcharge there was. The receipt they emailed after I had been charged was for just shy of $200 and their customer support line offered no kind of assistance in explaining why I was not informed ahead of time that there would be additional fees that would double the estimated price. On top of that, no kind of effort was made to make it right. The car itself had significant damage that, once again, I was not made aware of before I signed all agreements and had given them my credit card for a hold charge. If it had not been for the fact that I thought to inspect and take photos before I drove off the lot there was no paperwork to document damage nor a way to see the car before you finished their paperwork, I guarantee that they would have tried to hold me liable for the damage. Save yourself money and the hassle, just use a different company.
Wow! I was worried after reading the reviews. Yes they did have a long line but what do you expect when they have the cheapest rates in the valley! My rental was sweet, clean and I had a great experience with them!! No over charge or unexpected expenses. I will rent from them again!
Would give zero stars if possible. Been in line 1 hour. 2 agents, one dealing with a large group for 50+ minutes. No dedicated Blue Chip/Express lines. Asked Hertz agent if they could send someone to help. They own Thrifty/Dollar. Manager told us to be patient. Guessing 60+ minutes is not being patient. Not first time this location has done this
Last night I flew in to SLC and waited in line for over an hour. When I got to the counter I was the last one allowed to purchase before they closed it at 11pm. They sent everyone else outside and downstairs to a Hertz kiosk. They didn't have a car to assign me upstairs so I was told to go down to the Hertz kiosk and I would be assigned a car. When I got down there, I waited another 20 minutes before asking about my car and was told I had to wait at the back of the long line down there. I refused so the man down there refused to give me a car. I had to call my daughter who got out of bed to come get me. My father is dying and I need to drive to Idaho today. I cried all the way to my daughter's house.
I am only posting because everything that has been said is true. We had an active reservation, waited about 45 min in line they were the only rental counter with a huge line and only 1 agent, when we got to the desk we were told we are late so our reservation was cancelled. And we were in line on time. Since when are reservations valid down to the minute? We were then offered the same reservation for hundreds of dollars more. So we promptly booked with another friendly agency. And exactly as another poster said, when a new agent came we thought yay, the line will move a little faster, the first one just got up and left.
We did the manager special this past week for a compact car or larger for $245 for the week, unlimited mileage, at SLC. There was no wait when we arrived to pick up our rental and were given a Jeep Compass. We had no issues with the car and it was such a great deal! Would definitely rent from thrifty again.
Very bad service, avoid it at any cost! I tried to get my prepaid rental car and was declined as the card reader did not support the chip+pin used in European cards. Other methods like swiping or alternative payment methods were not offered. Instead the lady at the counter was very rude and tried not to help. Even a phone call with a customer service representative of Thrifty itself was not accepted by her. She refused to take the phone and on loudspeaker she just resisted on helping me any further. I never experienced such bad service in the US and even in Europe one would define such behavior as rude and clearly inappropriate. So now I have to try to get the prepaid amount refunded. Fortunately I finally found another company, who rented a car to me - using the same credit card, but another reading device...
I have a booking on 10:30pm,however the fight delay so I come at 11:30.On the Google and the official website says that it close at 1am. I need pay extra amount of money to go the budget to book a car.Never rent a car from Thrifty again !
