Donut plant is good don’t get me wrong but they’re not like before the pandemic. Their donuts are made fresh all at 5am then distributed across stores in the morning. Certainly not going to be warm upon purchase but still flavorful
Saw this place on social media and I had to try it. The tres leche wonder wheel was really good. Since the donut is made out of cake, the whole treat isn't super sugary. Looking forward to going back and trying other flavors!
Great doughnuts and some unique flavors. Being able to choose between cake and yeast doughnuts is what really separates them from other bakeries.
Got here 30 mins after opening to grab our last meal/dessert in NYC and we ordered a bunch of doughnuts to try out! I think we go 8 doughnuts and our total was $33, so they're not cheap. We we're so excited to eat them that we forgot to take a picture, and only took one after eating a few of them already! Out of all of them I think my favorite were the Brooklyn Blackout and Blueberry. I normally don't eat doughnuts, but I thought these were very light and fluffy! But definitely have some water with them because they're very sweet.
Donuts are yummy. Don't come late or they'll be sold out. You can catch them on Too Good To Go and get 5 donuts in your $6 order.
Dec '21: doughNut your average sufganiyah Although @doughnutplant does have some that at least look more like your classic jelly donuts. Sufganiyot are jelly donuts / doughnuts classically eaten on Hanukkah around the world. They’re round donuts filled with jam or custard, deep fried in oil or shmaltz never lard as pork isn’t kosher, and topped with powdered sugar. The tradition started in Europe by Germans / Polish then brought to Israel and renamed to sufganiyah singular. Jews around the word have since adopted the tradition as one of the many fried foods eaten on Hanukkah. The tradition of eating fried foods goes back to 12th century or older even. Jews commemorate the oil that lit the menorah for 8 days instead of 1 in the ancient temple in Jerusalem after the Maccabees defeated the Hellenistic army that ruled over the area at the time. The army had destroyed most of the temple, but the Jews found their menorah and lit it - it was supposed to be lit basically all the time. Hanukkah started last night! So for me to celebrate, I went to Doughnut Plant! Doughnut Plant was opened by an American Jew with a long history of baking in the family. When they opened the doors, it was actually to a small tenement apartment in the Lower East Side! In 2000 after studying and trying many different donut techniques, then opened shop at Grand St where I went!. There are now 9 locations - including in Tokyo! They’re certified kosher and offer holiday specials. See my last picture for the two Hanukkah sufganiyot - marzipan or vanilla with blackberry jam. A few years ago they came up with a crazy Hanukkiah one too, but that is special order. I don’t actually like jelly hence my choice in the Brooklyn Blackout. Thanks for reading! Happy Hanukkah! !חנוכה שמח
Awesome doughnuts!!! We tried the creme brulee, tres leche, vanilla glazed, and blueberry... they were all amazing! The woman that helped us was very nice. Definitely recommend this place!
Donut shop with lots of unique flavors. Would come here again to try some of their other flavors. Carrot cake : carrot cake donut with cream filling on the inside. Was pleasantly surprised at how good this one was as I am not the biggest fan of carrot cake. A tad on the sweet side for me but still delicious. Creme brulee : small but delicious donut filled woth cream and a bruleed top. The creme could've tasted a bit more like the creme in creme brulee and I could've also done woth a slightly thicker brulee on top.
We never miss Doughnut Plant when visiting NYC. Innovative, real fruit, authentic chewy dough. The crème brûlée doughnut deserves its reputation. It’s a relatively modest offering. I can’t handle the.peanut butter and jam see pic!!
Always a treat! Craved these donuts on a gloomy rainy day so got them on UberEats. Loved the peanut butter & jelly and chocolate valrhona donuts.
