Have to say - such a well oiled pharmacy experience today. Kudos in particular to the pharmacy clerk who was kind, patient and caring.
This review is specifically for pharmacist Laura H. Whether I catch her on the phone or ask her my questions in person, she is nice friendly courteous and patient. She does the best she can to help you find generic brands for a fraction of the price while finding other programs like walgreens w cards for discounts. I even was eligible for free covid testing kits. Her supervisor Anna is also very nice and knowledgeable on how to take medications correctly with clear instructions given. For once I can say I have found staff that are dedicated and actually care about their patients. They also can store other prescriptions you may be on the fence about for filling for up to 30 days on the shelf.
I come here literally everyday but EVERY time I go on the weekend they’re closed in the morning. If you don’t open at 9 please remove the sign on the door saying you do. Thank you.
The spacious drugstore is usually well stock and clean. The staff is usually friendly and quick. But sometimes, during a slow night, you might only see two employees [one cashier handling a really long line and one at the pharmacy area]. Overall, one of the better DR locations I have been too.
Three stars for now the Pharmacy - friendly and informative staff, they're more than happy to discuss rather than just check you out. The rest of this place blows. The cash registers have issues regularly, and even when they work there are often checkout lines that get huge and no one comes to open another register. Their inventory management is pretty horrible too - they have stacks of boxes and scattered un-shelved products out blocking entire lanes most days. What can you expect tho? They also
Absolutely no Customer Service. Several times I have stopped in her to make a purchase. The item I need is locked, but there is a button that announces a customer needs assistance I that department. The employees ignore the announcement. I have seen them chatting behind te registers with no one making purchases. This is an anomaly amidst the chain. Other locations are much better.
Normally, these types of places are filled with miserable, angry people who do what they can to show you how much they hate doing what they do because of how little they get paid. This particular pharmacy or whatever this place is is different because here, at least when I'm there, people smile, help out when help is needed, the managers are always around to assist and they never argue. There is a place just like this one a few blocks away and it's HORRIBLE, unlike this particular one. Its very refreshing to experience this sort of professional, courteous behavior, makes your day easier.
Veda working here is one of the most obnoxious people I’ve met. Not only was she rude when responding to simple questions about their offerings, she made a very nasty remark to her colleague about one other shopper. They did not know I was right behind them and I could hear everything. Management should definitely fire Veda immediately.
This Duane Reade location has a particularly well-operated pharmacy. I recently tried refilling a script at another pharmacy and they were completely ineffective when it came to calling my doctor’s office—they couldn’t even get the script sent to their location. So I’m back at this DR. Ellen and David in the pharmacy are great at what they do and handled the refill by the time I touched down at JFK.
They get three stars because the person who rang me up was good at his job and was very friendly...if not for him then I would give this location zero stars if that were possible...the reason is the lousy, rude and arrogant human that is the manager...everytime you shop there after hours even if you are just picking up something that is by the register this manager will yell for the one person he has working who is up to his eyeballs stocking the shelves to come ring you up...while waiting no matter how long it is before the person can get to the front this guy will stand there next to the cash registers and ignore you...he will ignore you even when you ask him a direct question the most obvious one being "can you please just ring me up"...the is a constant and frustrating issue...I say all of this not because I have to wait when it happens but because he humiliates the person working for him...I will correct myself now and say people because it seems to make no difference which employee...I have started letting the manager know my thoughts only to be looked at blankly and with no regard...
