This is another awesome location for Duke's Grocery. We generally come here for the burgers and other menu options. Making a reservation is generally a good idea. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Service is good as well. We enough the ambiance and the food here. Among our favorites are: The Proper Burger Fish and Chips White Truffle Mac and Cheese Fired Up Chicken Taken With Liberty The desserts are nice too and good enough to share. The cocktails can be a bit of a miss sometimes. The consistency of the quality of the food and service makes it our top spot for burgers and the other menu items
My date and I went here last night for our date night dinner and it was a nice experience. First, it’s open in DC with all of the COVID closures and it was pretty empty as well since it was Sunday night after a major holiday. Food was good. Burger was top 10 my date said. Nice, flavorful and juicy. I had a Cali bowl with shrimp which was fresh and tasty. Service was decent, but I had to get the waiters attention towards the end when we wanted to leave. The bathrooms were clean and presentable! It’s the little things. I would recommend this place.
Excellent pub and restaurant with a lively atmosphere! The place takes on a worldly theme with a full sized English telephone booth located in the corner and not too mention their culturally eclectic menu. The food was great and the staff was nice. I could see why many people at George Washington university would go for food and fun. Hope this helps!
This place is busy, loud and crowded... but the food is great! You get seated fairly quick and the service is friendly. I was craving burgers and a lot of people always have Dukes grocery on their best burger lists... I can see the hype. *proper burger-delicious! So happy with my choice. It comes med rare or well done. I ordered medium rare and it was perfectly prepared. I ordered it with sweet potato fries. Loved the combination. We would definitely return!
Good food. The brunch menu was a perfect blend for my partner and me. I wanted a burger; she wanted breakfast food. I wanted a Roy Rogers; she wanted coffee and Baileys. Even though it was very busy, we got our food pretty quickly. It was lovely. The wagyu beef tasted very fresh, and the sweet potato fries were a nice compliment to the burger. Their menu seems pretty innovative even though I’m not a huge fan of Rocket.
We went for a weekend brunch at Duke’s. I order a Cubano and it was delicious, really enjoyed it. The proper English breakfast was disappointing - it came out cold and we had to ask the waitress to reheat it. Even after it came back, it was still not warm. The roasted tomatoes were not completely cooked through. I think I will still come back for their brunch and dinner but will keep my options for their burgers and sandwiches.
Lunch here is so great. The elote is DELISH!! I could order two bowls of that for lunch and be happy. They do not skimp on the cheese which makes me very happy. The avocado toast is tasty but could use a tad more avocado. I appreciate the option for runny or hard egg on top. Obviously runny egg is the correct choice. Overall an excellent lunch option!
Just came here for drinks. Very accommodating to a large crowd with no reservation and wanting to pay checks separately. They have a large enough outdoor seating area. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. She was super knowledgeable about the draft beers - recommend the Poe IPA. We also were able to order Aperol spritz, despite them not listed on official menu. Will have to come back and try the food soon
Nice place to watch World Cup matches. Friendly staff. My brisket sandwich was delicious. The burger my dad got was just OK. But our server a young man was super kind and attentive despite the World Cup craze on Thanksgiving Day!
The vibe reminds me of a proper English bar and it even has the iconic red telephone booth in the bar area. The restaurant menu is eclectic ranging from traditional pub fare to pho. I ordered the corn “elote” loco and it came in a cast iron skill beautifully sprinkled with Mexican crema and cotija cheese. I devoured the whole thing. For my entree I ordered the proper burger with an extra beef patty cooked medium rare. All I can say is mmhhmmm good!!
