I recommend to anyone who does business with etrade, to remove their funds. I've been trying to get a fraudulent account closed for well over a month, now they tell me that it is closed and that I initially open the account myself. Now the money that my wife has there, they are holding it hostage, until we upload a bank statement,due to suspicious activity, all because I told them if they didn't have this fixed by Monday we were taking our money elsewhere.
The only E*TRADE branch in all of Houston, located inside the Uptown Park shopping center right off of Post Oak and 610. At the time I did not have my banking card with me because I was waiting for a new one since my last one expired. I called E*TRADE ahead of time to see if I can come in with my DL and the Company ID my account is sponsored through to cash out money out of my brokerage account. Little did I know that these branches do not keep cash on site and the only transactions they can do are wire transfers and checks. I spoke to Johnny at the branch and explained to him what I wanted to do. He was more than willing to help me out, offered to wire my money to an external bank account of mine. He was even generous enough to waive the wire transfer fee for me which saved me $25. While it is somewhat of a inconvenience that they do not withdraw actual cash here I appreciate the employees here for going above and beyond to help their clients.
Have been doing business with Etrade for years and they have always helped me out with any issue, whether technical or business.
Brutal Customer Service. I got an email today to call in about 'important information'. Phone said almost 2hr wait, used chat took just as long. After the long wait they just wanted me to upload a standard form for tax purposes, called a W-9. Questrade sent me an email the same day, but it just asked me to upload that doc, gave me links and instructions. Rep for E-Trade was unapologetic. Terrible disrespect for their customers.
By far the absolute worst company I've dealt with. The website is not user friendly. I couldn't even explore without having to call customer service because it locked my account due to I DON'T EVEN KNOW LOL The customer service reps are not knowledgeable in anything...no literally nothing. The call waits are long I was on hold for 40 mins and when the person picks up...they know nothing about why my new account is frozen. I then tell them to return my funds and close the account couldn't do that. Put me on hold for another 10 mins and then still the same thing. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND LACK COMPASSION FOR THE FACT THAT TIME IS MONEY AND MONEY IS VALUABLE.
I've used etrade basically since their inception in the mid '90s. They've gone down hill significantly since around 2009. I selected them because of the ease of using the platform and transferring money around. Their research and tools were also top of the line at that point. The platform is still easy to use for trading purposes but I fear they've gotten too big. They play this shell game now when it comes to transferring money out as it is no longer an option within their menus and I had to search for it. I've been unable to rollover any accounts despite speaking to customer service numerous times so I've just decided to leave my investment accounts and use other platforms in the future which is what I fear they actually want. Very disappointed as I've long been a fan of their innovative and groundbreaking approach from the '90's.
I applied for an Business account and the customer service was terrible. They ask for so much information, which is fine and expected. There is no reason it should take a month to open an account. As of this post I still do not have an account opened. I am taking my business elsewhere.
My wife's IRA account has been transferred from CapitalOne Investing, we thought it is happening for good but after a month or so we noticed that they are not as good CapitalOne was so we talked with their customer service, after a day we found our account is blocked withou notice to us so we called them again, this time the call went to some where outside US and call center ladies treated us like we are criminals. It was very painful and disgusting , I have no option but transfer out our account same day . Be careful of this company, we are investors and put our hard earned money not to be treated like CRIMNALs
In this critical time, Etrade is not help at all. There is no compassion . All they care is about their money. Everybody else is waiving late fee or other charges but Etrade put extra pressure on the customer. Not happy with at all.
Absolutely horrible customer service. you can wait for hours to get someone on the phone. Live Chat is not much better 90+ minutes to get a computerized response telling you to call customer service If you have any problems at all or even a simple question...you're going to pay for it with your time. Do not use this non service oriented company.
