I saw this place while riding a bus... I looked for it on Google maps and read the reviews. They has 5/5 and great comments, so my GF decides to go and give it a shot. It was amazing! Best pupusas I've tried! Burritos are not the best, tbh, but the place is cozy and food is really good. Also, Jackie, the owner, is one of the most friendly persons I've had as a waitress, now I understand why this place has so many great reviews. Service is simply fantastic! I'm definitely coming back here for pupusas.
Delicious, cheap and amazing service. Authentic Mexican food, with many options. BYOB. Burritos and quesadillas $8-9.
Omg this place is SO GOOD. such genuine mexican and salvadorean dishes. The pupusas are delicious and the elote so so good. The chilaquiles omg perfect breakfast! The horchata is so good. Definitely coming here often!
Really good prices. Really friendly and fast service and the best pupusas I’ve had on the East coast. Definitely recommend
This is a place I drive by almost everyday and have not thought to go inside. It is just amazing. A local diamond! Not only was the food incredible, the service was just top notch . The owner was our server and she was just the sweetest! She was incredibly hospitable and made us feel so welcome. Having genuine conversation with people like her is what makes dining out such a pleasure. The pupusas were my favorite. I have never had them before but they were so good!! Will definitely be going back!!
This place is great! We've been twice already in the short time we've lived here, and the food has been outstanding both times. The food is simply prepared with fresh ingredients, and the flavors really shine. Not greasy or oily like a lot of places, but rather clean and crisp tastes in all the different dishes we've tried. We stopped in on a random exploratory walk the first time, and had the pleasure of being served by the owner Jackie, who along with her husband who handles the cooking, also runs the restaurant. It's a passed-down family tradition type of place, and it really shows. Highly recommended. They do take out and delivery too!
I googled restaurants on the way to a different location. By chance, I chose El Bocado. It was the best decision! I met and had a very nice chat with the owner while I waited for my food. She was just the sweetest person. I could have spoken to her for hours but my food was ready within minutes and I was off to my next destination. The food was so good, especially the pupusas! I should have ordered more! We will surely become regulars. I love supporting family owned businesses!
Family owned local restaurant. Husband cooks and wife manages the front. Great Mexican and Honduran food at a reasonable price. Service is great! The owner is super sweet and makes a genuine effort to get to know you!
The service here is out of this world! The owner is the nicest person in the world and will do whatever to make your time here the best it can. The food is not a let down, the pupusas were very good!! If you’re checking out new restaurants or want a new spot come here you will for sure feel welcome!
So the first time I ever had a papusa was at my boyfriends abuelas house this past Christmas and ever since then we have both been looking for a place in Philadelphia that makes them. So we decided to try them today at El Bocado and we are both incredibly impressed. We ordered 9 all together, so you know when something tastes so amazing that even though your full, you still want to keep eating, that's this place we seriously could not stop eating them. The owner is also super sweet and you can tell she finds such joy in serving excellent food and is very proud to be making the dished with fresh ingredients. I can't wait to recommend them to my co-workers. I would also recommend them for families wanting excellent made food, a date that you want to chill with and get to know or just to grab a bite and take a break from walking around the city. Trust me they are worth it. PS it's byob so buy some modelo beer or make margaritas and enjoy!
