Warning: Avoid Renting from This Company We are a boutique Medical Spa & Wellness Studio renting a suite at 363 7th Avenue, and our experience with this building and its management has been overwhelmingly negative. Since December 18, 2023 we are at the end of June 2024 at the moment, the elevators have been broken with no updates or repair dates provided. We are forced to use the freight/garbage elevator, which is old, unreliable, and breaks down every other day. This elevator is not designed for continuous client flow in and out of a 22-story building, posing safety risks. The managing agent and senior director Ryan, is rude, disrespectful, and unhelpful. It took six months for our practice name to appear on the building directory board and one and a half years to fix the intercom. We have filed a complaint with the Department of Buildings, but inspections take time to arrange. For your safety and peace of mind, we strongly advise against renting from this company.
I have been given a late charge for several months now even though I was never late on my rent. I've called a few months ago and asked for you to cancel the late fees, and you have promised to do so but there has been no action taken. Therefore, I called which it just goes straight to voicemail, so I left voicemails which never got a call back. I tried to send emails but yet again never got a respond. It's been several months that I have taken action due to the management's mistakes, but I am just left empty handed. Please respond and fix your mistakes. Thank you.
Rented from these folks back in 2019. I forgot to leave a review then but felt compelled to do so now because it was such a terrible experience. The management office will try their best to not return your security deposit until you threaten to take them to small claims court. Keep bugging them until you get it back. If you do not, take them to small claims court. Conveniently, you will then find that they are now responsive.
I had a great experience with the Empire Management team I worked with. Elan was incredibly responsive and helpful at every turn. Rachel, the administrative manager seemed to never miss a beat. They worked with me on rent and got me a deal I could manage while being transparent the whole way. I couldn’t have been more pleased with their management and was frankly a bit surprised by some of these negative reviews. I was in one of their buildings from 2021-2022 and would absolutely work with them in the future.
The company has yet to give me my security deposit even though I moved out 3 months ago. I did the final walk-through with the super and they found nothing wrong with the apartment. There has been a complete lack of communication from them as to why they haven't given it to me yet. The only time they reached out to me was a month ago2 months after leaving to ask for my current address even though this information was given to the super during the walk-through. The person on the phone assured me that the check would be sent out that day. Never received it, and they haven't responded to any of my calls/emails. I wonder how they would have handled the situation if I just decided to not pay rent for 3 months.
As a four-year tenant of Empire Management, I'm puzzled and even baffled by the unflattering reviews I see here. I lived in one of Empire's flagship properties on Long Island and my experience with them was nothing but positive the entire time I was there. My building was always extremely clean and well-maintained. In just my last year there, they installed new state-of-the-art laundry machines; put a new vanity in my bathroom; and repainted all building doors and entrances, as well as my entire apartment. On top of all this, my super Sandra was always super-responsive and never took more than a few minutes to answer my maintenance requests. Other noteworthy highlights: the leasing administrator Rachel, who was super-communicative and patient in answering any questions I had about my rent payments, lease renewals, and security deposit; the fact that my rent increases were always well below the market rates for my area even after COVID subsided; and above all, the fact that my security deposit was fully refunded less than two weeks after I moved out! With regards to the reviews complaining about delays in refunding security deposits, I'd guess those were tenants who moved out in the midst of the COVID crisis, when most businesses were shut down and staff were working remotely. Like any other company, Empire Management was not immune to COVID and their operations were impacted, so it's entirely understandable that security deposit refunds were delayed. I was lucky enough to move out after COVID had calmed down, so I didn't experience any delay in getting my refund.
This management does not even worth one star. ALL PREVIOUS REVIEWS ABOUT THEM ARE TRUE. They are very unprofessional, rude and total SCAMMERS. My lease ended on August 31st and they renewed it without my consent and were keep sending me the bills and threatened to take me to court if I do not pay them even though I moved out and live somewhere else. It took them two month to take me out of their system to stop sending bills. BUT most IMPORTANT thing is that I still DID NOT receive my deposit back or heard anything from them. They NEVER respond to emails and every time I call them they always come up with an excuse not to transfer me to a manager or whoever is in charge. If I do not hear back from your management soon I will take LEGAL ACTIONS against you. This is unacceptable how I need to wait, keep emailing, calling and stressing out for two months to get my money back!!!
More or less a criminal enterprise. The elevator in 515 W 110th broke down and the owner took no steps to repair it for *months*, despite an abundance of elderly people living on the top floors. On a daily basis I saw a lady that was no younger than 90 walk up and down 12 flights of stairs while the management did nothing -- utterly disgraceful. Also, Empire routinely sent an incorrect bill, and refused to give us and our acquaintances in the building our security deposit back despite leaving the apartment in pristine condition. My hunch based on seeing the other reviews is that they do not return it as a matter of policy. We've explored legal action, but in the meantime, please avoid Empire Management at all costs.
ALTHOUGH the upper management was unwilling to help me stay in the building by offering a better deal on a lease during these tough times, I'd like to say the following. Tania is useless and does not respond to calls/emails, avoid her. CARMEN is the best, if you need anything just ask for her bc she responds and cares for you as another human unlike the upper management who seems indifferent on whether you stay or not. Fiznik is a great super and will quickly help with any apartment issues. The entire front desk team is great, always took care of my packages and were always polite. The building is solid, has an awesome rooftop, but the gym sucks so if you like working out and want a gym in your building this one isn't for you. I won't move back but it only seems fair to give a solid review since my experience for the most past was good here.
Great experience. Would rent from them again. Thanks Ramin
