Vern's price is now $3.25! A whopping quarter more than when I first started going there! Is there a better bargain in the neighborhood? Since moving here I have tried a number of different cleaners in the neighborhood. Here the price to have a shirt dry cleaned and starched is $3.00/shirt! I was stunned. One dry cleaner close by is charging $8.00/shirt. A starched shirt is a starched shirt - it doesn't matter who you use. And you could not ask for a nicer, more polite person than Vernon
Please do not get anything tailored here, your clothes will be ruined. I’m attaching pictures of what happened to a jersey dress I had taken in, and given the material, I don’t think I have any chance of fixing it.
It’s taken me about 2 months to write this review but my experience was so horrendous here it truly makes me sad that this is my most convenient tailor. I had a gown for my sisters wedding that I needed altered as it was too large and took it in with plenty of time to spare. The first person to help me was the husband of the duo, quiet but nice and I explained what I needed done and he assured me not only would it be done but it would look great. Cut to 3 weeks later and I received my gown, asked to change and make sure everything fit inside. The second person in this process I dealt with was With his wife, and when I put that gown on, shocked at how much lower cut the dress was than initially at the first altering—she proclaimed that not only could nothing be done about the dress, but that I shouldn’t wear the dress because “nobody would want to see YOU in that”. Wow. Wow. WOW. I was shocked, hurt and frankly just in awe that someone would be so disrespectful and completely absent of kindness or empathy In what was clearly a stressful situation. She made sure to repeat this point plenty of times, during this brief interaction which left me basically begging for her to let me change and leave. This was the worst experience I have had with a tailor and the worst experience I have had in this neighborhood. This woman clearly thought that she needed to impose her unnecessary, thoughtless and prudish opinion on me instead of being a professional which is what I paid for. I have told numerous folks about my experience here, if you want to treat people like they are garbage—if the thought of seeing some cleavage makes you an intolerant jerk with zero filter and zero professionalism then you deserve for others to know! Zero star experience, but thanks for the bullying!
Excellent tailor and cleaners. A neighborhood gem. I have used them for years. Update Oct 28, 2022: I have to remove two stars on account of the price to clean a table cloth size wrap about 4' x 6' no pleats - straight cloth. $20.00. I will be careful about what I take to them again. Very expensive. There is another dry cleaner around the corner from me. Fig Leaf still has great repair service.
Had several things tailored here recently. Excellent quality of work, fast turnaround, and much less expensive than other places! 10/10 recommend.
They got a stain out I have tried to get cleaned 2x before, reasonable price, nice people. I have gone back for alterations and plan to go for shoe repair too!
Foundation stain didn’t go away, dry cleaning clothes smells really bad, pricey And alterations were not so good never would go back again to this place.
My whole family uses them--always very happy
