I purchased a really great wool jacket for my father in law. The store experience was two thumbs down. One store clerk was walking around on his cell phone. The other clerk was trying to be helpful but had to refer the cell phone clerk for everything. They were able to muster up a gift box. I was informed they don't have tissue paper. FYI, when you buy a $400 coat, you need to buy the hangers they sell. They don't give them away. When I went to wrap the coat with the box I was given it had huge grease stains all over the inside. It is the little things that matter. I'm giving a nice gift and want to represent Filson as a high end shop. The stores practices are well below high end. I am disappointed with the experience. I work in Detroit and want to support merchants downtown, but they don't care. I love their merchandise but unfortunately I may not be back.
I have been to this store so many times. The employees and managers are so helpful. Great store to try things on and get opinions from staff. I shop online more than I would like but now I do not have to for well made clothing and gear.
Love this store and thier products. The staff is very friendly and makes sure you feel well taken care of. Prices are a little high but the quality of the clothes justify it...well almost justify it. Take advantage of thier sales whenever they come up and you can snag some pretty good deals. My only complaint is I wish there was more locations.
They have a great selection of Filson products. If you don't see it on the shelf, it may be in the back. If it's not in the back, they'll ship it to you for free! Great service.
The store is what you'd expect of Filson, decor and product wise. I gave it 3 stars because the guy who worked there man-splained merino wool socks to me . I asked if they had 100% merino wool socks instead of the blends. He seemed to assume that I wanted "every day" socks his words made of 40% Merino. He explained "the 70% wool socks are more for hiking and real outdoor winter things" :/ and kept mentioning that I may prefer the everyday ones... I explained that I knew all of this info already and that I have 100% Merino wool socks that I got while in New Zealand!
The original staple products from Filson are the best quality garments available anywhere, namely Mackinaw wool and Tin Cloth. It does seem expensive until you factor in the quality, handmade nature of the goods, and the Filson guarantee. Not to mention that the core product line is still made in Seattle and elsewhere in the USA. If you're an outdoors-person tired of somewhat expensive under-performing synthetic clothing, save your money, buy Filson once and use it for the rest of your life. If you already have the money and just think it looks nice, that's cool too. Either way, it's worth a look. Check out Sierra Trading Post and eBay for deals
Nice shop, friendly staff, good answers for all of my questions! I'm going to have to save up for one of their awesome coats!
Great store and I love how Filson is one of the last vestiges of American buying and clothing product manufacturing in the US.
Awesome store, friendly & helpful staff, absolutely the highest quality products you'll find anywhere!
I was greeted immediately and received excellent service from the staff. They pointed me in the direction of what I needed and I found ample selection. It was pricy but that's midtown.
