"The Fire Museum of Memphis is a non-profit organization that exists to promote the education of fire and life safety, to reduce injury, life-loss, and property-loss related to fire, and to recognize and preserve the heritage of the fire service and its contribution to the community. In 1998 we opened our doors. The mission was to use the historic Fire Station #1 to teach fire prevention and safety. Since then, the museum has aided Memphis in greatly reducing the number of deaths related to fires. Without the work done by the Museum, many more people would not be with us today. Hundreds of thousands of visitors have walked through the museum and learned valuable lessons on staying safe in a fire."

The Fire Museum of Memphis is a true gem in the city. As I walked through the exhibits, I was struck by the dedication and bravery of the men and women who have served as firefighters throughout the years. The museum does an excellent job of showcasing the rich history of the firefighting profession and the impact it has had on the Memphis community. From the vintage fire trucks and equipment on display, to the interactive exhibits and hands-on activities, the museum offers something for everyone to enjoy. I was particularly impressed by the section dedicated to the Memphis firefighting heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. It was a sobering reminder of the danger that firefighters face every day, and of the debt of gratitude we owe to those who put their lives on the line to protect us. The Fire Museum of Memphis is not just a place to learn about the past, it's also a place to inspire future generations. The museum provides educational programs for children and youth, teaching them about fire safety and the importance of community service. Visiting the Fire Museum of Memphis is an experience that I would highly recommend to anyone. It's a great way to learn about the history of the firefighting profession, to appreciate the sacrifices that have been made, and to be inspired to make a difference in our own communities.

We were in Memphis on vacation. This was very informative and interactive. The staff were extremely knowledgeable and hands on. My kids loved the fire simulator and practice 911 calls. At the end they have fire trucks, an ambulance, and pole that the kids can play in. There was one display the didn't work but overall a fun experience if you are visiting Memphis
First time there, wonderful place for children, quite a few hands-on on projects. Fun for for parents and grandparents alike!!! If you haven’t visited, Please do!!!

Want expecting much when I went but boy was I thrilled. Kelvin took us on the tour it was absolutely amazing. You can drive a virtual fire truck to a fire. They have a talking horse. A wonderful place for kids. A simulation your in while the house burns down. What great experience. Would go again if I got the chance.
It is small, but powerful. It teaches about the history of Memphis fire practices and safety precautions useful now. I would suggest for any elementary students,
Very fun, if tiny museum. Several old pieces of fire apparatus, lots of equipment from the early days of the Memphis FD. Lots of pictures, several areas for kids to play and learn, several displays of personal fire collections, donated by benefactors, and a very nice 9/11 memorial. Very recommended.
This was a neat museum, and geared towards kids. Just be aware, that it is a very small museum that can be done in an hour or so. There was a lot of fire safety for kids. I enjoyed going through the maze and having to feel the doors with your hand. The fire simulator was neat. Kids really love playing with the fire trucks that they have too.
