Just finished the 6 hour tour with Jon. Outstanding experience. He is a captivating storyteller. I had my 14, 11, & 9 year old kids with me and they were glued to him every step of the way. There's so much history in these streets and Jon brought it to life. We are so happy we choose free tours by foot. Already trying to figure out if we have time to squeeze in the midtown one before we leave. Highly recommend!

My wife and I did the walking tour of Harlem guided by Ryan on Mother's Day.
First off, Ryan has a commanding voice and was easily heard by all in our group. How he does this without yelling is beyond me, but everyone seemed glued to his every word.
Ryan was articulate and extremely knowledgeable on the history of Harlem from it's first settling, through the wild days of the Speak Easy, the difficult 60's-70's and it's final grand resurrection as it remains now.
I would highly recommend booking with Ryan on this tour!

My daughter and I had Jon as our wonderful guide today. He managed our group very well. He is very knowledgeable of the history of the city. The All Day Tour was packed with historical sites and was well laid out to move us smoothly through the area.
I love the way that Jon engaged with the children in our group as well. His wit and charm combined with that of the kids (they kept him on his toes with the questions that those young minds came up with) added comedy to our day.
I loved the stories of his personal experiences and family history. He even answered my random questions.... Ask him why the “Survivors Tree” has a tag around one of its branches? Interesting factoids all the way around and he was not afraid to tell you when he did not know the answer to your question.
Thanks, Jon. God bless you.

I went on the walking tour of Harlem with Bill--who was very knowledgeable and quite amusing. I liked that he focused on the positives about Harlem, yet hit a few touchy subjects (such as the "stop and frisk" mural). Bill seemed to know the neighborhood well, to the point where some folks greeted him by name. He gave great recommendations on clubs - my main interest - and restaurants. His history of the early jazz clubs was amazing. He said he's an actor and I hope to see him perform one day! Outstanding, I would highly recommend this tour. (In case anyone is wondering, we never were harassed or felt threatened at all.)

We took the Soho, Little Italy and Chinatown Tour as well as the Greenwich Village Tour with Renee. She is an AMAZING tour guide. Renee is extremely knowledgeable and did a great job of keeping the tours moving along. The tours were very informative, with a blend of historical, architectural, social and pop-culture information. Renee pointed out several homes that have belonged to famous people or were used in movies and TV series. I highly recommend Free Tours By Foot NY and Renee as your guide!
