The Christmas Open House at the GAI was an enjoyable experience. It was very busy. Maybe too busy for me, but that's a good thing for the GAI. Thank goodness the weather was comparably mild. The food was good, and the Black Forest torte was excellent! Unfortunately I didn't get any bratwurst / sausage, but it must of been good, because the "line" was so long. However the ongoing problem with visiting the GAI during busy events is parking. I ended up parking 2 blocks away. But I look forward to going again next year.
We love the Germanic American Institute. So much, we are getting married here in the fall. I appreciate that there hasn't been many renovations in the space. A cozy, warm mansion - especially during the winter months. Events put on are great and members receive great perks!
Great resource! Open house brings in public letting them know not just about the great things available at GAI, but connects to organizations in the area that you may not have experienced previously.
Very inviting, beautiful space. Great Octoberfest event and winter market event!
We had a wedding here last fall with about 175 people and it was beautiful! The venue was a dream come true and the multiple levels worked out because guests could be upstairs dancing, downstairs talking or kids could be exploring. There was a space for every type of guest! We chose to serve very unique cuisine with our own recipes middle eastern and the cooks and staff nailed it! We had so many compliments on the food and everyone loved that it was different. The bartenders were very friendly and having multiple bars set up throughout the house kept everyone happy. Overall, it was a great experience as a bride, and from what we've heard, it was an amazing and fun experience for the guests! Thank you, Katrin!
It was their annual German fair. As usual there was a long line for food, which served only sausage and brats. The buns were dry. The music played while we were there was not German and was too loud to allow for much conversation. It was a fund raiser. What can you say?
German Days on Summit Ave. Great event! Went with my wife and her connections with SESCA. I think the house has tours too, but not open today according to Google. The lawn was full of music, beer, German food and lederhosen : Wunderbar!
Very cool building and a nice display of some historical things.
This place is ausgezeichnet. Both my kids and I have taken classes here and they have always been great. Staff is wonderful. The house and grounds are beautiful and a treasure. I just wish we lived closer.
I went there for an event and it was like sardines and claustrophobia.
