I planned a surprise dinner party with the help of Ben, the manager. He was instrumental in the execution of this customized meal with wine paring that was stellar. We used the wine room for a more intimate setting that in my opinion is their best kept secret. The room is climate controlled and hooked up to it's own sound system to make for a completely customized and personal experience. Their customers service and attention to details was better than other 5 star restaurants. This place is a must!!
This Zagat rated restaurant is well worth a visit. The beef Wellington was delicious. As was the deconstructed carbonara, stuffed dates, and deconstructed banana cream pie. Supposed to be haunted, but they must be well behaved.
It sucks that Forepaugh's restaurant closed on March 11th, 2019 after its chef, Kyle, passed away suddenly at a young age of 32. Back in 2014, I had the privilege to try Forepaugh's specialty the Filet Mignon.... This place will definitely be missed.
Service was just OK and the sirloin was tough and over cooked. Must say the deconstructed banana cream pie was fantastic. Overall 4/5 but was hoping for better.
Mac and cheese was divine! French fries are amazing and the service was beyond great!
Really nice experience! Not your normal restaurant layout, this was an awesome place.
Classic, yet unconventional setting. Explore the 1870 mansion and enjoy creative dinner options and drinks. Unique choice for date night.
My boyfriend and I went for our 3 year anniversary and it was absolutely perfect. So much so that we went again this year! The host not sure of his name but it was the same one both years is so kind. Everyone's customer service goes above and beyond. We even got a champagne toast on the house! The food is very refined and it is all delicious. They put a lot of thought into their menu. The dinner rolls are also my favorite. I'm not sure how they make them so tasty but they are so good. They also have an excellent wine and cocktail list. The atmosphere is very romantic and it's not crazy noisy like a lot of other restaurants. You MUST go here!
This place is super cool. Lots of history & great ghost stories from staff who have encountered Molly and George! Lots of great nooks & crannies for intimate dinners for 2, and larger tables tucked into corners, some with beautiful views of downtown St. Paul. They also have a great upstairs patio for warm weather with great views, as well. We love to stop by in the Winter time & get cozy in the sitting room across the hall from the bar.... our favorite table is right in front of the warm fireplace! Cheers!
Last August, we celebrated my birthday by dining at Forepaugh's for the first time. The ambiance and service were great and the steak dinner was good. I thought at the time I want to come back in the winter and enjoy the cozy feeling of the place. So, last night, Dec. 27th, we celebrated our wedding anniversary. The ambiance, service, along with enjoyable conversations in the bar/parlor did not disappoint. In fact, because of these, we departed two hours later in a not so bad mood--despite the fact that the food and water-downed drinks were among the worst I have ever had in my life. We both ordered the walleye, having absolutely loved it at two other upscale restaurants since moving to Minnesota six years ago. Before ordering, I had suggested that we order two different dishes in case we did not like one of them. But my wife of 17 years said that she would not share her fish. So, our fate was sealed. Ironically, we both came close to sharing the meal by the time we got home--by just thinking about it.
