Gilda's | Italian Restaurant

This is what Portland has needed for years, a great neighborhood Italian restaurant. The atmosphere is cozy and the food is terrific. My only complaint is since it's been named one of the best restaurants in Portland you need reservations. You get around this by dropping by the bar, which is downstairs and well worth the visit on its own merits.

Never will I come here again, as well as the other 20 people that were in our group, we were treated with passive aggressiveness and disrespect. We were made felt guilty of simple requests to correct errors to orders as well as denied in ordering beverages while the waitress was taking "appetizer" (which were only 3 options) orders. We requested no discount nor did we slander any employee of the establishment, we paid our full tab without question with gratuity included. In my opinion as well as the opinion of 20 others we were pleasant and respectful given the circumstances. but as seen from the owners response we are just "Neanderthals". Marco, for someone with such strong opinion of the evenings encounters it is quite surprising you made no appearance to the issue. Glad you have the excess of $800 we regretfully spent at your establishment.

So delicious, very expensive though. Our waitress was nice but we had a big group and she didn't seem to know what she was doing. But all and all the food came out amazing. Compliments to the chef! Also beet salad is so good!

DON'T BOTHER! Came here with a group and they decided to put us on a limited menu. Owning 2 eating establishments myself I can't imagine doing this. I would rather that many people have an opportunity to try everything on my menu. The waitress was overwhelmed by the 20 of us on a Friday night. She made comments like: the owner put you on this menu and he prefers smaller groups of people. The spaghetti they made us was something that Chef Boyardee in a can would have been embarrassed by. We gave full tips to they wait staff out of courtesy, but we all agree that it's not a dinner any of us would ever return to. It's unfortunately a mistake on the owners part to not understand a large group should be respected with the same menu as if we had all walked in grouped smaller.

This is a fantastic restaurant. Beautifully executed Italian food in a nice, yet causal, environment. I had the spaghetti and meatballs and it was great. The tomato sauce is simple and good, the noodles cooked al dente, and the meatballs had a nice tender, and slightly chewy, texture. A good place to carb-load or a nice night out.
