Went there for lunch today.. . And honestly I was disgusted!!!? It was so very very very unclean....I didn't count on the food being cold either due to there was only 2 other patrons.... The waiter was very very nice tho... So with that being said the tables and glasses were so so dirty and the silverware was nasty too... Food was cold and the water pitcher had melted ice and it was just very unsatisfied... My bill was 42.00 and I was completely honest it was bad.
Staff was very friendly and on top of things. Food was pretty darn good. I got the pastrami, added the garlic herb sauce from the cheese curds awesome too by the way and it was bomb. The decor was really my only beef. I get the circus theme connection, but don't know if it is right. The mural of the owner on the wall is a bit awkward, not sure why he's crushing buildings in the skyline. Again, I like the food, but the price is a little much. And you have to order fries separately. I will say 3 of us split the side of fries comfortably.
This place is a fun new locale that really takes the circus theme to the next level. It is great food but a little pricy. For that reason, the lite lunch menu is a better bet. They do have a good selection of drinks in addition to the food. The service was good. The cheesesteak I had was just completely melt-in-your mouth and I enjoyed every bit of it. The barbecue sauce they have is also very unique and goes very nicely with their cries. It has a great view of Grand Circus Park and has a great atmosphere. i would definitely bring the family here.
Awesome AWESOME Awesome! You have to come see this place... It's AMAZING! Listen when I tell you.... You NEED to come check this place out for yourself!! *Update* - Different owners or something but the vibe and atmosphere here is all wrong now. Don't know why but I don't think I'll be going back.
While staying at the Aloft across the street, where we checked in very late after a very eventful arrival in Detroit, this place offered us with very friendly attention within walking distance. To be fair, the food was not outstanding, but for a late night meal, it was fine.
We especially went down to dinner on Friday night. The place is cute. The wait staff was very attentive. The ambiance was fun. The food was extremely disappointing. Seems overpriced for the portion of ribs and chicken that you get. French fries were soggy. Chicken wings ordinary and fair. Chopped sirloin had to be sent back twice Needless to say we will not be back.
Its not terrible but so many things miss the mark. This location and space has so much potential and it is frustrating that it was squandered. The space itself is just plain tacky but it is understandable that they tried to stand out. The circus theme is an interesting idea though not what I would have chosen but it was executed without any taste or class so it comes off as childish see Carnivale in Chicago for how to do this theme. The food is executed well but the selection is a bit boring and suburban, not a menu you would expect from a downtown location. Also for the price of the food you could easily go to a cool upscale place elsewhere downtown. The portions are large but so are the prices. The drinks are acceptable if you are just trying to have something before a game but I would never choose to go here for drinks alone since there are too many other high quality bars nearby. One thing that really rubbed me the wrong way and really illustrates the disconnect between this place and the other offerings downtown is the owner made himself the face of the restaurant.... Wahlburgers doesn't do this and they have an A list celebrity owner. It shows a level of disillusionment and lack of understanding of the market which ultimately explains how they missed the mark so badly on pretty much everything. The most positive thing I can say is that the staff is great as they always have been here same staff from previous location and others seem to agree with this assessment as well. Overall I am disappointed considering what could have been here and I doubt I will be back, even though I live in the same building.
Staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was good with large portions. However, it really could benefit from a lunch menu with lunch pricing. It was just a little too expensive especially since it's all 'a la cart'. Would benefit from cutting 2 or 3 dollars from everything. It would probably be a fine place, but the circus theme is over the top and the mural of the owner? is very odd. The glass balloon chandeliers are pretty cool though, so maybe if they toned the place down just a bit it would be okay. Also, get a sign on the outside so people know there is a restaurant there.
The ONLY review to view! I’ve never done any social media of any kind, not to mention Grand Circus Diner is the reason for my FIRST EVER REVIEW of any kind and here is why... CHEERS TO THE MANAGEMENT!!! My wife and I LOVED our experience at Grand Circus Diner and you will too! If you appreciate an upbeat, happy, and fun place with HUGE portions and AMAZING service then Grand Circus Diner is the spot! Tons of seating, yet packed full with delighted customers. Their extensive menu including mouth watering favorites from appetizers to deserts to their awesome full service bar is sure to make this one of your favorite restaurants! We came to Detroit/Windsor to celebrate our 5 year anniversary, enjoy the shows, and enjoy the best of the best eats. We have been to the ‘finest’ restaurants with their miniature sized portions and wanted something different and preferably a newly opened restaurant. The second we walked in, we knew we had found it. We ordered their mouth watering 1seemed like 2 pound burger that was obviously made of the highest quality beef, perfectly paired bun, and all of our favorite toppings. We had to try their Chili Cheese Fries that were hands down THE BEST we’ve ever had, not to mention it seemed more like a 5 pound mound of oohs and ahhs. The most wonderful Onion Rings you’ll ever have paired with a phenomenal dipping sauce. Be sure to wear your Thanksgiving pants, because you won’t be able to stop shoving your face full with their oversized portions. Be sure to order a delectable dessert, they’re amazing! Then cap it off with a shot of Tequila and lime! So grab a group of friends, their kids, and anyone who likes buffet like portions of top notch food and a great time, and GO TO GRAND CIRCUS DINER. This will assuredly be one of your go-to restaurants any time you head to Detroit!
The staff was great, very friendly and a great atmosphere but the food isn't great. Went downtown for my birthday and decided to try this place out they are open late but the food is expensive. We got the nachos which were reasonably priced and were HUGE we wouldn't of ordered other food had we known how big it was, I didn't like the nachos they put beef brisket on top of them which tastes like beef stew meat to me and it was not my cup of tea.. tho my fiance liked it but he says he likes beef stew so he thought it was good lol I don't think beef stew goes on nachos but that's just my take on them but My finance and I shared them and still had a lot left to take home we ordered burgers too which we took to go and ate later and they were awful mine was just a small regular burger and it was like $7 he ordered the burger with pico de gallo on it and he didn't like his either and his was $14 for just burgers no sides. Overall we weren't impressed.
