What a gem! I purchased a Michael Kors wallet, Max Mara casual shoes, coach purse and Banana Republic slacks.
This place is GREAT. Broad selection of clothing and friendly staff. I did some Christmas shopping for my daughter and purchased several items.
I carry a small backpack as a purse. I carry my wallet, meds, phones, and keys in it. They tried to insist that I check my bag at the front. When I said no, it’s not big enough to put anything in to steal, and it’s my purse, they said it was corporate policy. When I pointed out that I’ve shopped in other Greene St. stores, frequently, and have never had to check my bag, they then switched to “it’s store policy”. Meanwhile a young woman with a much bigger bag than mine was browsing in plain sight. They were unrelenting, so I left the store, and went to Philly Aids Thrift and found a cute dress for $6. I will never go back to this site. I do spend $$$ at other sites so their loss.
Extremely rude and unfriendly staff. They have a sign at the door that all bags except purses and totes need to be held at the register. I came in with a tiny crossbody bag only holds cards and a small tote bag. Before even saying hello or anything else one of the staff intercepted me at the door to take my bags from me. I asked about the policy on the door and she said it doesn't matter and they need to take them away from me before I can shop. I reluctantly agreed but both staff working were so cold and unfriendly that I just browsed a couple racks feeling awkward the whole time and then got my things back and left. One of the most unwelcoming experiences I've ever had shopping.
Eclectic assortment of clothes- designer section too! Smaller accessories/ shoes sections to complete your outfits. Organized well. Friendly staff.
AWFUL CONSIGNMENT. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS!!! I consigned with them in May and had questions about my payment. It took me OVER A MONTH to finally get an answer from Dayna in accounting and she still hadn't answered my question. I emailed her 4 times and STILL nothing. I had to email the PRESIDENT of the company, Lynne who finally got back to me. And still Dayna was dismissive and unpleasant. Their customer service is substandard and they are not professional. Do not support this business! They never paid me for the clothes I gave them which included name brands like Theory and I'm sure sold them and kept the profit.
Ok here it is..My letter Hello, My name is Tracy and I shop frequently at the Green street stores. I also consign occasionally. I’ve done pretty well because I take care of my shoes and clothing. I recently found out I have to have knee replacement surgery to my dismay. I have always worn heels 90% of the time until about a month ago when I realized I can’t tolerate the discomfort any longer. So here’s my point, in addition to my knee problems I should mention that I am a shopper! I love to shop till I darn near drop! My favorites are shoes and handbags. I Just recently bought several pair of dress shoes and sandals to add to my summer 2022 collection. Unfortunately I can’t wear any of the heels. So sad! They were purchase from Nordstrom rack, Macy’s downtown, I work right next door so you can imagine it’s a shopaholic‘s dream. I also shop at DSW and Aldo. I shopped over winter and spring to get ready for the summer. My shoes shelved neatly waiting to be worn. I had an appointment to consign several pair of my heeled sandals. I had 18pairs 8 of them were brand new never worn and the others were worn periodically over last summer. The person who looks over and chooses items didn’t look at everything but yet stated that all the shoes were too worn and had marks on them. New shoes!!! I had brand new shoes that I never got to wear because of my knee problems! It was my daughter who dropped the bag off for me and she was told that all my shoes were scuffed and had marks on them. My daughter said she felt it was a rush job and was made to feel that she was a nuisance because she was there. What kind of policy is that? Consigners are held to a certain standard but the people who do the selecting aren’t. I will never come back to Green street again because if that! This happened to me once before. I made an appointment at your South street Phila Pa location, again I had a large bag full of shoes. The person pulled one pair of shoes out of my bag and decided that everything was unusable. I was standing near by in the back of the store and I could see what she did. I took my things and left. My husband and I were going to Manayunk that afternoon for lunch and we parked right down from your Manayunk location which has since closed.  I was so upset from my experience. My husband decided he’d go into the shop and ask if my items could be considered for that store. He took the bags in with him. When he came back out he was empty handed. The manager who’s name escapes me she was a cool African American woman. She took everything. My husband came out to tell me she needed me to fill out some paperwork, so I did. I got a receipt of some sort and a confirmation email. Any way, majority of my items sold, you know, the items that was turned away… yeah those items. Sold! My faith in Green street consignment was renewed. I continued shopping at your stores over the years. I’ve turned several family members, friends and co worker’s onto the quality and reasonable prices and unique experience. We’ve made many group trips to your fill-a-bag sales! It was fun! I have been a very big fan. My favorite was of course the Manayunk location but it closed. My new favorite became the Lambertville Nj location. There were other great ones like your Bryn Maur, Chestnut Hill and Glenside stores, even South Street after I got over my hurt feelings. Have you caught on yet?  I was crazy about Green Street Consignment. Needless to say this last experience left a bad taste in my mouth. It reminded me of what happened at my South street Philly appointment. With the uncertainty of the economy, who has time for unprofessionalism, lack of curtesy and no consistency. No one. I shared this with a couple of people. I also wanted to share this with you too. I wish you much success. A customer no more. Tracy
Good stuff, a bit expensive for me but if you dig hard enough, you will get quality second hands.
I got a really cute coach bag for 30.00 The staff is helpful and very sweet. I stopped going there has to be over 10 yrs because there prices were crazy high for being a thrift store which is how it started off. Then they became consignment. They even had a really beautiful Michael Kors leopard print bag but I like big bags. I also got a cool sweater. I definitely recommend it.
Best selection in second hand clothing. The shoe selection is "eh".
