I'm a 23 year old girl, who recently completed 6 months of chemotherapy. I have some extreme hair loss, so I wanted to go to A Hair Etc. Salon & Custom Wigs for a wig. I called ahead of time to confirm it would be okay that I come in, and the woman who answered, who I assume is the owner, said that would be fine. I arrived at the shop, with the anticipation of simply browsing through wigs. However, when I arrived, she immediately greeted me and told me to have a seat. She asked me why I needed a wig, and I told her I had been going through chemotherapy and already had a longer wig, but wanted a shorter one as well to switch off. After trying on a few wigs, she told me the price of one I liked, I immediately told her I couldn't afford that wig, and that I was looking to stay under $150 and would be more comfortable trying on wigs in that range. She proceeded to put on several other wigs that were well out of my range... offering a $50 discount off of wigs that were over $300. I really just wanted to get out of there by this point. I was very polite and told her that her wigs were beautiful, but out of my price range. She then proceeded to tell me that she charges people to try on her wigs, because I “wasted her time” and she was now going to have to stay after to clean all these wigs…something that was never noted when first walking in. When I politely told her I thought it was rather unfair to tell me this now, she got a little upset but eventually said that is was fine, but that she was still upset I wasted so much of her time. I was beyond irritated that she was attempting to make me feel guilty for going in to a wig shop... to try on wigs, but none the less remained polite and thanked her for her time and trying to work with me and left the shop. About three minutes down the road, I get a phone call from a name I didn't recognize. I picked up the phone to hear this woman on the other line saying "$200 for any wig you like" I politely told her that I appreciate the offer but wasn't looking to purchase. She proceeded to tell me, over the phone... to a COMPLETE stranger, that I was incredibly rude, inconsiderate, and ruined her entire night. Needless to say, I stopped being polite and let her know that her actions were not only unprofessional, but out of line. I would STRONGLY recommend you never go to this shop. I'm still in shock with how inappropriate her actions were. For someone like myself to feel insecure enough to have to purchase a wig in the first place, to have to then be verbally assaulted by a wig shop owner is just beyond comprehension. INCREDIBLY upset with my decision to step foot into this shop.

I had a medical condition recently which made me lose a lot of hair in the past few months (especially thinning at the top), and decided to try out a wig for the first time. I picked one had natural highlights in it, and then the owner helped me to cut and style the wig to my preferences. The new cut/color/style looks amazing- even better than I could get my natural hair to look! :)
