BANH MI, PHO, BUBBLE TEA Good fix in the neighborhood for these things. The pho is decent and honestly a little hit or miss depending on the time of day and season of the year you get it. At best it’s ok and at worst it’s not worth getting but on this particular day they gave a good amount of meat so that was good. The banh mi is good and I do like the ground meat in the classic style even though that’s not really authentic but it’s a nice twist. The bubble tea is actually the best thing here. What Hancos does well is that it has the variety of all of those things plus also Summer Rolls. Expect the expensive Park Slope price. Highly Recommended for that fix Kid-friendliness:
Heard this was a good spot for a good ol’ bahn mi. I’m not Viet, so no pitchforks please - but I’ve had my fair share of bm’s. I ordered the classic bahn mi - spicy. Fast service - maybe 5 min or less. The place was packed and busy. Pricing? Feels a bit of a reach - considering size and filling amount, but i understand the area. Whatever. I’m not really a fan of the use of ground meat vs what i’m used to solid slices parsed throughout. While I think it allows for a more even distribution of meat per bite, i feel like it lacked some flavor and the sauce had to do a lot of carrying on that end. Also, “spicy” is a generous classification - it’s very mild at best. Overall - food was still filling, I’m not sure - i’d be willing to cough up another $12.50 for this quality sandwich. Will be looking elsewhere for my bahn mi needs!
Food was ok. The worker was nice. They give you a big bowl of vermicelli with a good amount of veggies but only half a container of sauce so it was bland. I don’t expect extra sauce to be free these days, but it’s ridiculous they charge $2.50 for half container of sauce. The bowl of vermicelli is $18. Make it make sense. I don’t recommend this place and wouldn’t come back.
Bahn mi was tasty but rolls left much to be desired. Got the chicken role - supposed to be basically spring role with chicken instead of shrimp. There was one piece of lettuce, almost no cucumber or mint basically just boiled chicken and vermicelli noodlesFood: 2/5
I wanted to stop by a Vietnamese Restaurant in the area for some high quality Vietnamese Iced Coffee. I found Hanco's in Park Slope. I got the Vietnamese Iced Coffee which was $6.26. It took a long time to make around 5 minutes. Ultimately, it was pretty good. It definitely helped me get my coffee fix in, however, it is also definitely not the strongest Viet Iced Coffee I've had. I would suggest going to a more authentic Viet restaurant for their iced coffee for next time. But still solid for what I got, although a bit expensive.
I recently visited Hancos at their new-ish 7th Avenue location. The lychee bubble tea was excellent, the boba was fresh and the tea was not overly sweet. I usually order the shredded chicken banh-mi sandwich or shrimp spring roll in rice paper, which is always yummy : This time I was trying to go for something lighter than the bread but more filling than the rolls so I tried the rice Vermicelli bowl. It was served as a cold salad with vermicelli noodles, shredded carrots, cucumber and grilled chicken cooked to perfection. Basically, all the goodness of the sandwich minus the bread and mayonnaise. It was delish!!! I would recommend a visit the next time you're in Park Slope. Vegetarian options: salads, carrots, spring roll Dietary restrictions: Vegetarian options Kid-friendliness: casual dining Wheelchair accessibility: flat entrance
Their new storefront a couple units down from the old one is bright and beautiful! Picking up an order from grubhub was easy. Delicious milk tea and Vietnamese banh mi, even though they don't call it that for some reason. My only complaint with the sandwich is that the veggies are mostly on one side and the meat is mostly on the other so it's hard to get a well distributed bite with all the ingredients. Super minor detail though. I'll be back soon for more!
Had a delicious quick meal here! I got the tofu bahn mi, which was excellent. Classic and simple. My wife got the chicken pho, which was perfect, since she doesn’t eat beef and we don’t often see a chicken option for pho. Overall a great meal and we’ll be back!Food: 5/5
Pho is good but real winner is chicken curry pho get side of rice. So comforting! And balanced. Generous chicken.
vegetarian chicken banh mi - didn’t get my usual tofu and glad I tried this. It was delicious and spicy. Baguette was light and crispy Not pictured but I also tried their hot jasmine boba - the jasmine green tea was good but I didn’t like chewing on boba in a hot drink but that was my fault Great lunch spot for a quick pickup in the area
