I really wanted to give them a five star because I used to love their dim sum when I lived here four years ago. However, it seems like they've lost their touch after they moved location. It's just never the same without the push cart. It's missing that excitement and freshness. I still enjoy the tastes of the food though. The beef chow fun is so good I could eat two plates of it. The shrimp dumplings and chive dumplings are my favorites. Chicken feet and the pork ribs are on the must-order list. Still highly recommend this place to anyone who wants some good dim sum.
I had a wonderful experience! The waiters were nice. The dim sum was very good. The dim sum selection and Chinese food selection was alot. They have bubble tea and desserts. Best place in Chinatown so far! Will be coming again!
Beautiful place for tapas style Dim Sum. If you want to try multiple items and wanted to try small portions. I highly recommend this place in Chinatown. The restaurant is open till 9:00 pm, however, the kitchen closes at 8:30 pm. If you are planning your dinner around 8ish, there are high chances that you might not get most of the items. I also like the way that the order sheet has a small picture of most of the items. So it is easy to relate and order.
Once famous for being one of the only Dim sum style food cart restaurants in Boston, Hei La Moon seems to be going down hill. Due to COVID, food carts had been taken away, and the feeling of excitement and anticipation for carts along with it. Food carts also helped in making decisions simple as they have hundreds of different menus available, but those perks were no longer available. During one of my recent visits with my friends, I was disappointed by some of their offerings. They still have fantastic dim sums and dumplings, but the chicken and other main dishes including the seafood lo mein were unremarkable. If you’re looking to get some good dim sums in a big group, this might still be a good option, but otherwise, I would recommend going to other places in Chinatown with better food quality.
This place has so many items to choose from. I would highly recommend the sweet tofu. Their 100-year-old egg porridge is creamy and flavorful. I tried their fried bean curd roll here, but the steamed bean curd roll tasted better at another place. The sticky rice in lotus leaf tasted just as good as many other places I have been to.
I haven't tried many dim sum places to really give a valid verdict, but this place served us really delicious dishes. Pan fried noodle with beef was amazing. Their wonton soup was very tasty and was very clean after taste. Overall I really liked this place
I enjoyed the food here. All of the items were good except the soup. The service need some improvement as I had to go ask for anything I need. The place is nice and clean. Over all it’s a good place to eat Dim Sum.
They changed the location from the front of Chinatown gate to north of the gate. Tried the dim sum here, and everything is good except the fried noodles, too dry. Price is good, you just pay for what you eat. Two people should spend less than 100$ here.
Great location in China Town, very large dining area which accommodated our large group of 11. The custom service was OK there was a bit of a language barrier when orders were taken but that was easily sorted. The drinks menu seems a bit over priced and limited. The food tasted nice and of a good quality, It was well presented and seem to be cooked properly and not reheated. Howevere , they need to work on there order system as it can be a bit tricky to work out who ordered what particularly in large groups as the menus are taken away after orders are placed.
Hei La Moon is in a new location, the Food Opera, which is on a side street of Boston Chinatown. There are no dim sum carts here. Dim sum is ordered off the menu and is cooked to order. The food is great and the restaurant offers a good selection of desserts like mango pudding. Service needs improvement, especially with water refills. On the plus side, the restaurant offers dim sum all day.
