Heidi J. Purcell, MD, is a remarkable obstetrician and gynecologist currently serving patients at The Woman’s Health Group in Houston, Texas. While she loves the diversity of her specialty, which is considered one of the broadest fields in medicine, Dr. Purcell chose to focus her practice on teenage and first gynecological visits and contraception. Apart from the clinical side of her work, she puts a strong emphasis on patient education and communication that she considers key factors to obtaining positive results for her patients. Dr. Purcell applies these principles when taking care of her patients through the entirety of their reproductive and post-menopausal lives. Heidi J. Purcell, MD, studied at the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. After she graduated in 2009 with her doctor of medicine degree, Dr. Purcell completed her internship and residency training specializing in obstetrics and gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Purcell stays at the forefront of obstetrics and gynecology as a professional member of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL), the Harris County Medical Society, the Texas Medical Association, and the North American Menopause Society. Throughout her academic career at Baylor College of Medicine, she was honored with several teaching awards. Dr. Purcell, MD, attributes her success as an OB/GYN physician to the wonderful mentors that she was blessed with, but also to the hard work she’s put in throughout her academic and occupational career, and to her love for the profession she now practices with great passion and professionalism.
