I had a wonderful experience renting a car from this location. The staff was friendly and helpful. The manager Nassir took care of me. They are understaffed and overworked and did the best that they could to be efficient with all of the different moving parts involved in the operation. I waited no more than 20 minutes for my car to be ready. My car was clean and in good working condition with no mechanical issues. I drove from Philadelphia to Chicago and back. I would return to this location to rent a car anytime. I would encourage those reading the bad reviews to remember that with customer service you often get treated with the same respect that you give the employees.
First, the address listed here is incorrect it's 4100 Presidential Boulevard not 4100 City Ave. It's not a huge distance, but I arrived by bus, so it was an extra 20 minutes walk to find the office in an alley behind the hotel dumpsters. I told the staff, but they seemed unbothered. Not sure why they don't just update their address? Next, the only car available was an electric car. I read that many people arrive and there is NO car, so I guess I was lucky? In most cases an electric car would have been fine, but since I was going from Philly to Montreal, the charging time was considerable. The trip went from 7 hours one way to nearly 11. I obviously arrived late to my destination and missed an appointment. Then I had to cut my trip short to ensure I could return the car on time. The staff suggested I go to another location and switch cars, but every place that answered-some the phone just rang-said the same, "We only have electric available." Halfway into my journey I gave up. Using the charging stations was a huge hassle. Sometimes they were busy, or not functioning, or required I download and use an app. Sometimes they were in places without any sort of other services, so I had to make additional stops for bathrooms and food. And they were not cheap! Gas for an economy car, which is what I booked, would have been similar or cheaper. That last part is not strictly a Hertz problem Though if Hertz is moving toward an all-electric fleet, they need to consider these things. Perhaps provide exclusive charging stations or a swap-and-go feature so people don't have to waste so much time charging., but I do feel an electric car is not "similar" to what I booked. I should have been informed and/or compensated since Hertz could not fulfill our agreement.
Placed a reservation about a week in advance for a rental. One, the location is behind the Marriot in a tiny location so it’s hard to find. Second, when I walk in to retrieve my reservation the respectable young lady lets me know they have no cars available and does not know when the guy picking up cars will return. Oh and there were 4 other people waiting on vehicles also smfh. Great to know they let you make reservations without actually having the inventory to cover it.
I wish I could give ZERO stars. Do not waste your time with them. All this company will do is hit you with bogus charges after your rental is complete. They are basically stealing from their customers. I am disgusted, and I will never rent with them again in my life. Hertz is a joke of a company, and their corporate office is just as bad. They’re all a bunch of scammers.
Made a reservation on Priceline. Selected the closest location with the best price. Picked up the rental on Thursday night. No issues until the rep retrieved the car. Dirty, stains throughout the rental and the smell of smoke. Asked for another car. No other SUVs. Asked for discount? Supervisor not present. No call, no email, no contact from the supervisor. Called the next morning, supervisor still not there. The WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! Won't be RENTING from HERTZ ever AGAIN! DISSATISFIED CUSTOMER
I was apprehensive due to reviews but went with best price. Employees on phone were professional and in person. Colin is employee who helped. He was efficient and able to answer all questions about use of car and retun policy. I will use them again !
The worst experience I have ever had with a car rental company. I had a reservation for a regular car and they didn’t have any in the lot, and they couldn’t even upgrade me. And btw I saw a car in the lot
Everything about this rental was a disaster. They were supper unprofessional. They didn’t have the cargo van that we had booked in advance like they don’t even own one, but they list it online, so we had to deal with a box truck. Which I basically had to beg for, they wanted us to just go away empty handed. Then, after confirming that it would be the same price like 100 times that we prepaid online, we found a $50 “inter city fee” that nobody informed us about, and isn’t even listed as a potential charge on Hertz’s “explain my charges” website. Total BS. When we came back to return the truck, nobody was there! Even though it was during their normal business hours! Don’t rent from them. Ever. And Hertz corporate if your seeing this, you really need to shut down this location.
I've booked a car. When I came, they say, that they don't accept day to day reservations, so I have to find another place. I've spend $40 for taxi to get here, wasted 3 hours of my time and all my day plans where ruined.
This place is awful. They never pick up the phone and 90% of the time you have to wait over 30mins to an hour just to pick up the car since they are so slow. Today the main manager the heavyset guy made a customer wait 30 mins until the employee who was cleaning our car came back because he was too busy completing corporate trainings to get up to help him. Poor guy was just standing there since there was no seats left with other customers waiting too. Zero customer service and an embarrassment to the already tarnished Hertz name
