Absolutely the best steakhouse to enjoy a great atmosphere and hands down the BEST steak. Our waiters cause they all attend to you were amazing and very professional. We recently visited the updated and renovated restaurant and got some feed back and history from Brett who had an outstanding personality and sooo easy to strike a conversation with. HIGHLY RECOMMEND WHILE IN HAWAII
Food: 5 Stars Service: 5 Stars Ambience: 4 Stars Value: Covered by my Brother Overall: 4.66 Stars I had the pleasure of dining at Hy's Steak House during my brother's private wedding back in 2022, and it was an absolutely exceptional experience from beginning to end. We chose Hy's for its reputation of fine dining and were not disappointed. The evening started with a delightful appetizer plate that was both fresh and flavourful, setting the tone for the rest of the meal. The main course, a perfectly cooked steak, was a highlight. It was juicy, tender, and cooked exactly to my preference. The portions were generous, ensuring everyone at our party was satisfied. The attention to detail in every dish was evident, showcasing the culinary expertise of the chefs. The dessert was another standout, concluding the meal on a sweet note. It was beautifully presented and delicious, leaving a lasting impression. Overall, our experience at Hy's Steak House exceeded our expectations for such a special occasion. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff ensuring everything ran smoothly throughout the evening. The ambiance was elegant and conducive to celebrating a wedding, making it a memorable event for all. I look forward to returning to Hy's Steak House on my next visit to Hawaii. It's a place where quality, service, and atmosphere come together seamlessly to create an unforgettable dining experience. kellychan360
Hy’s Steak House in Waikiki is masquerading as a high end steak house. My visit today was all around abysmal. Had their grade A5 wagyu steak which was prepared rare when i asked for medium to medium well. Baked potato was not fresh, cooked hours earlier and reheated poorly. Caesar salad was plain. Table bread was like poor Texas Toast with butter and cheese created by a child. They entirely of all food presented was sub par. Super slow service. Waiter said kitchen was running behind. Not joking, but even the fire alarm went off during our meal which was a microcosm of the whole experience. I will say Bye to Hy’s forever. Good Waikiki alternatives would be Morton’s or my favorite spot Merriman’s.
Overpriced restaurant. I reserved at 7:30pm and arrived on time. Ordered food at 7:45 pm. Our steak served at 9:10pm after I complained at 9pm. They told me there is only one grill to cook. If so, should not accept outnumbered customers. Steak quality was okay, but they did not meet my request. I ordered medium well, which is light pink, but came out with rare. Well done was over cooked, so came out with a dried texture. Also, there was too much fat in our steak.
I love old steakhouses, that old man library wood ambiance. This place is no joke, super expensive but worth it? I would say staff needs to be well informed on the dishes if they are alll going to be over $30 each The seafood? Chowder? Wa shoos but it was more of a puree with cubed veggies, cold. Maybe a few cubes of ginger? Something hard to chew. I would not recommend it. It was definitely played pretty though The steak was good, served with steamed veggies. Boring but free I guess. Cold again. Oysters weee very tasty but I had better in china town for $2.50 each. Wine selection is great. Be prepared to seat next to some interesting people .
Hy's Steak House, Thank you for making sure my wife enjoyed her 40th Birthday! We enjoyed every dish that was carefully crafted to perfection. A combination of a talented chef, delectable menu, and a well-trained and attentive staff. The elegant decor, background music, furniture, and yes, the food was definitely excellent. Highly recommend to all tourists/visitors!! You will not be disappointed
All around fantastic first great night out with my wife. Perfection, scallops and ribeye! We were graciously attended by one of the Captains. Brett Iwanuma. Best service since we arrived.
Fantastic steak dinner! The atmosphere is perfect for fine dining. Staff are well dressed and superbly professional. Made our ceasar salad right beside the table, explaining the ingredients. Steaks were massive and a perfect medium rare. They even still make beef Wellington, which many shops stopped preparing. Reservations are highly recommended, and there is a dress code.
Wow, impressive service and food presented in an old school way. It's been years sense I have enjoyed table side Ceaser salad and Cherries Jubilee. Food was excellent, lamb is a hard dish to get right, My only rub is It's very expensive. 4 people no alcohol ran over 550.00. Reasonable for what you get, but still..
I was here in 2016 and was so impressed with the waiters, from seating me, to refilling the waters, to serving the dinner! They followed all the proper protocols. But when I came again this last Wednesday Dec. 27, 2023, I was very sad to see the quality of proper serving go downhill. There was tons of reaching over people's plates, spilling or splattering the water, servers arm right across my face, etc. Not to mention, we had to fan down our female waitress to order desert as she never came to ask! Then she seemed annoyed by the desert we ordered - the flaming chocolate lovers ice cream. She was pretty unprofessional also, the way she conducted herself. Not very professional for the kind of restaurant. Maybe an olive garden, but not this quality of a restaurant. Their menu has significantly changed, and their prices have doubled! Would have been nice had they updated their online menu! Even the old cocktail drinks were no longer available! But of course, I found others to try. I just expected more professional service for a bill of almost $400.00 . When I was here in 2016, it was a fantastic experience - but this time, 2023, it was mediocre. I got the Delmonico & escargot, my adult son got the beef wellington & escargot, and my youngest got the crab cakes. We got 5 drinks and 1 desert. Please update your online menus and improve your table service. Edit- reservations were under my name on the date I noted in review. Menu's were not updated the day of our reservations as I had screenshoted them to remember what I wanted to order. The gentleman I spoke to even acknowledged the menu was not updated as I was looking for a specific drink too! Sorry can't figure out how to respond to owners reply.
