I thought this place was a cool little spot. They have a pretty big variety of foods too. We ended up getting a shrimp tempura misubi and thought that was pretty good. I’m not sure if it’s the cafe that I’m rating here as 4 star or if I’m bringing my personal bias against misubi. I thought it was good… nothing mind blowing or exceptionally special. Not great, not bad. I probably wouldn’t recommend as a must stop, but I’d say if you’re nearby and need a hold over until dinner, you won’t be upset with it.
I thought I was eating proper musubi until I came here. The variety in their menu is astounding. If you love musubi, want to try something new OR want to try it for the first time, this place is it. We got the Spam, Egg & Cucumber // Spam, Cucumber and Plum Sauce // Shrimp Tempura, Avocado and Spam // Shrimp Tempura Hand Roll. All were fantastic. Prices are very reasonable as well. There are menus on the windows to the left if you need time to decide. The location is very convenient. We got our order, picked up drinks and more snacks from the ABC store down the street and had a picnic at the beach. Staff here are also very friendly and quick. We had some questions and they were helpful.
Lets start with the taste, everything taste pretty good.We tried several rice balls, rice bowl and Spam. They all tasted great. On top of the taste comes the prices. Average cost is $10 per person however to compare it to everything else in Hawaii this is pretty cheap for a good meal. Average dine in restaurant is 35-50 per person and the taste could be very tricky. Therefore, I would definitely stick to $10 meal with guaranteed good taste. Finally, they are very close to the beach and they open 7am to 8pm.
Best affordable Japanese food. Tasty. food are under $10. rice bowl starts from $6 up to $10. They also have musubi pack combo for $4.5. Portion is medium-small but just right to fill your hunger for cheap. Long line up. opens 7am-8pm.
I think I was given pre-made ones. I got mine instantly after I paid while others had to wait. Mine were barely warm. The place is stuffy and hot since the ac is only near the cashier/kitchen. The seating very small is all the way in the back. Not worth the hype and will not go back even though it is cheap.
While in Hawaii I thought to myself, I have to have musubi!! Based on the reviews I thought it would be a home run. Both musubi had wayyyy too much rice for my liking I should have taken a side shot. The kimchi musubi was good. The rice was cooked nicely and the kimchi was good. The teriyaki musubi on the other hand was a little al dente. Small shop with no indoor seating. Door says 5 people at a time but there were more than 10 people inside waiting in line so I did too. It was one of those places that I really wanted to love. Next time in Hawaii I'll try it again.
Got the teriyaki, Kim chi, egg and bacon musubi. It’s good, although not out of the world. It is what musubi should be. Very filling as they are generous with the rice. Would recommend if you are hungry for something savory and mobile. Take it to the beach and eat.
I didn’t know what to expect when eating spam on rice balls, but it was quite good. I tried a few and got an interesting overview of these offerings. This place has nice options and friendly staff. Food quality is great - would retunr
Yummy yummy musubi! They have such a wide variety of musubi that are all so great. We waited in line for about 15 mins 7:00 upon opening but it was worth! Not a fan of spam, we just randomly passed by and thought we could give this place a chance, definitely surprised! The rice was soft and very Japanese style, spam was pan fried, giving it a bit smokey and crispy touch. We got a plum flavor to balance out the saltiness, it was great!!! Cheese & spam is great too, the rich cheesy makes the taste more mild.
Wasn't expecting alot from Musubi in general but boy it was delicious. I had heard there was usually a long wait but we got there around 11 and waited in line under 10 mins and inside out of the scorching sun. We were able to sit inside the little shop and enjoyed our Avocado Bacon Spam, salmon & roe, and spicy chicken Mayo and all were delicious and very filling. Next time I would order all three again. We walked and parking seemed non existent similar to most spots in Waikiki. Would definitely come back again especially when there's no line. Great spot for a quick snack or small bite for lunch. Features: Workers were masked up and there was a limit to the amount of folks allowed inside at once. The tables had hand sanitizer and clorox wipes which was nice.
