Hickory House

What a great little find! If you love BBQ like me and my crew, you will love this place. The staff were a little hard to read, but in the end very friendly. The food was great, the portion size was considerable, and the cost was reasonable. In our 4 day camping trip to Stonewall, we at there twice. Check it out, or don't, but know that it's on you if you pass this up.

This place has the best burger I have ever had. Go see them and get some great BBQ! We went back again before we left the area it was so good.

We visited Hickory House on Tuesday evening around 7pm. The restaurant wasn’t busy but there was a full staff waiting for individuals. There were a few people that were already there and being waited on. When we sat down, the lady came and got our drink order. When she brought them back, she asked for our order and my mother gave her the order she wanted and then I asked for my order. I had asked if they could possibly substitute the baked beans for something else because I couldn’t eat them. She said she would have to ring it up separately and charge me for whatever it was because there isn’t any substitutions. First, with the price that we’re paying I should be able to have gotten something that wouldn’t make me sick without having to pay for it. Second, the prices from when this restaurant began until now have become outrageous! I understand why, they are catering toward the oil and gas guys that supply their business as most of the menu is named as items that correlate with the industry. I ordered my cold and said forget it. I’ll pay for something that I’m not going to eat..why not! She bring out our food and we never see her again. She never came back to check on us. To see if the food was okay (which it wasn’t) nothing! The next time I saw her is when she brought the bill to us and wanted us to pay. Granted we left most of our food sitting on the table because it was so gross and overpriced for what you received. Now just because she never came back to actually check on us she did have ample enough time to sit and flirt with the oil and gas guys that were sitting a couple of tables away from us. She spent the entire length of our visit with them and we could see that we were going to be getting the service that we deserved as paying customers. It saddens me to see once our favorite place to eat be the place it is today. Overpriced and over rated. Overall, I know we will never visit Hickory House again because of this. The service was horrible, the food was horrible, and overall the experience was horrible. Not surprised, just disappointed. ​

This place is incredible!!! The quality and quantity are second to none in the region. No reviews could do it justice. Go see for yourself.

So disappointing!!! Loved the 1/2 broosted chicken!!! No longer on menu. Ribs are cooked dry and well!! (Crispy) On to next Sunday restaurant. Sorry won't be back.
