Hook Fish & Chicken

My second time eating Cod and Chips from Hook Fish and Chips whilst visiting my parents in Basingstoke. Visited on the 16/09/22 to get fish and chips for dinner. Parking available close by which is handy. Quite busy tonight but service very good from very friendly staff. Cod really good size even for small Cod. Good portions of chips too. Quite nice food although the batter isn't the best I've had. Not particularly chrispy and not very light and fluffy. The cod itself is good though. Not greasy at all but taste is somewhat bland overall. Being from Cornwall I know my Fish and Chips. The saveloys looked good though Would still recommend as it's not bad , just not the best. An overall rating of 8.5 out of 10 from me.

Yesterday whilst visiting my daughter and family in Hook I decided to order a delivery from Hook fish and chips other than being a little bit late on delivery after being told 45 minutes but ended up nearly an hour wait for food. My daughter and husband both had fish and chips my grandson had sausage and chips and I had mince beef and onion pie with sausage in batter and chips. I was very very disappointed with the sausage in batter the batter was not right and the sausage consistency seemed weird later on that night after going home myself which was back to Greater London I ended up with diarrhoea which I put down to the sausage in batter the rest of the food was fine no complaints but obviously will have reservations about going there again when visiting my family.

Delicious fish and chips were delicious. No one was hungry the portions are very generous.

Value for my Money, Large Fish and chips my all time favourite going forward. Staff need to smile though

Haven't been home for a while and fancied fish and chips. Went to one more local and really disliked it. So decided to visit my old place shop and wow it was amazing. The chips were fresh and cod as fresh and the portion sizes were good. Definately on par to when we ran it.

Overpriced for what I would say was a below average meal. The staff he serves me seems very moody.

Large chips is large . Not many places do that these days . Curry sauce is amazing .

Large portions, good value for money but it might be nice for the people serving to smile occasionally. Maybe a good idea to phone ahead with your order , as we had to wait outside while it was being cooked and it was raining. Really enjoyed our fish n chips tho, thank you.
