My mom was transferred to Hospice in Union Conty after a major stroke. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and were able to answer all of our questions. The level of care has been phenomenal. The facility is equipped so that someone from my family is able to stay with Mom 24 X 7. There is a small kitchen, pull out couches, full bathrooms. Fortunately my mother has improved and is being transferred to a nursing home. The manager Brenda told me that hospice will continue to monitor my mom at the nursing home as long as there is a need. I am so glad that I’ve come to know and greatfully appreciate will continue to be there for my mom!

As a former volunteer with Hospice in Burke County and knowing first hand the wonderful work they do, I was expecting a similar experience when my husband needed hospice services in Union County. I was very disappointed in this group. They did not tell me that he would be unable to swallow pills and that liquid medication could be available. I later found this out from people who had experienced hospice from other hospice groups. As he lay dying and screaming for help, a nurse from hospice tried to explain over the phone how to crush pills and use an empty syringe to form a liquid - all this to someone who is experiencing all the horror and pain of watching and trying to comfort someone they love dying and screaming in pain. When the nurse arrived an hour later, we were finally able to get him to rest and he died in what I hope was finally peace. It pains me to say something bad about hospice because I know they can do good, but I can never forget this and I will never forgive them for putting my loved one through this horrific experience.

They were a blessing to mom in her last days. Compassionate and caring.
