We stayed at the Trundle one evening, based on the large number of 5-star reviews. I have chosen to give it three stars because of the premium cost. First, the room thermostat was not working properly. We were offered another room but that was not a convenient option. Second, apparently the hotel uses digital antennae to provide TV service instead of cable tv. Several channels, including two local channels, were not functioning. Upon inquiring, I was told they were "having a problem with a few channels." Having said this, the room was nice, and, even though a half block from a hospital ambulance entrance, very quiet. The criticisms are based on the premium cost of the room. For what I paid, I expected better.
The Hotel Trundle is unique, eclectic, and a wonderful asset to Columbia, SC. I stayed while passing through town, and wish my stay had been longer. The rooms are comfortable, spacious, clean, and classy. The staff and service was great and everyone working there was kind and helpful. The amenities were great and we were even welcomed with complementary beverages. The location is great for walking. Quiet, comfy - highly recommend.
Funky fun hotel with a lot of practical amenities... Love the breakfast delivered at scheduled time every morning sandwich depot does solid work iykyk the decor is very fun great vibes in everything and hotel was super clean. The bathroom is nice, bed comfortable, decent water pressure for a hotel, WiFi was quick enough I got steady consistent 85mb download 30mb upload. We enjoyed the Chromecast Tv, and something more hotels should have, a great ceiling fan the little things but airflow is so important and a good quite ceiling fan helps... Only slight hiccup at check-in, no one was manning the desk for 10ish minutes which made for very awkward convos with a couple of other guests waiting there longer than me who left just before reception came out of a back room. Price point is a bit high but fantastic fun location, would 100% stay here again or recommend friends/family stay here we're local and were staying here due to home repairs. Sadly didn't take photos but the hotel photos were fairly accurate for my experience.
I had been wanting to here for a long time. This was booked months in advance and we stayed for the night of our wedding. We received a room that was not expected. We got the room directly behind the front desk and near the elevator. We could hear everything and everyone. It was disappointing to say the least. As I came in in my wedding dress we barely got a congratulations. The room was ok. Nothing special about it. Breakfast was lackluster.
The experience was good not great. The rooms, eh. We got a king suite a larger room in a smaller unique hotel. The amenities are few yet the service does not make up for it. It's clean enough but stains on the comforter. Holes in the ceiling with nails sticking out. Unfinished or poor craftsmanship? Breakfast was included but for $458 we could have stayed a block over for half the price and more amenities...the room on the second floor 1 building away from a hospital was very noisy all night making me question my decision to book here. It is within walking distance of main street and some nice restaurants and shops. This is a smoke free facility but we smelled cigarettes through the vent. It also sounded as if something was scurrying on the roof, which very much grossed me out. Walkability: Very close proximity to main street shops and restaurants.
I stay here at least once a year I’m a local because of the decor, customer service and location. I take a stay-cation and enjoy some me time by staying downtown Columbia where I can walk to some great places. I highly recommend out of town and local guests to stay here.Rooms: 5/5
Very modern vibe, spacious room size with lots of natural light when you pull back the drapes. Bathroom has plenty of lighting for getting ready, great water pressure for hot showers and very clean. Linens clean in bathroom and bedding was also clean, comfortable and relaxing. Breakfast was made to order and brought to the room. My sausage and egg breakfast sandwich on multi grain bread was hot and delicious. Made from the local sandwich shop across the street-Sandwich depot. Amenities in room are: free wifi, mini kitchenette with fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The coffee was from a local coffee company-Loveland Coffee, so delicious!!! At check-in, there is a small section that offers coffee, hot tea, a small library and a display of art from local artists in Columbia. Great staff! Very friendly and knowledgeable regarding what's in the area. Rooms: Very modern vibe, spacious room size with lots of natural light when you pull back the drapes. Great location, staff was friendly and quick to help with anything. The room was well designed, comfortable and quiet. Parking was easy. Walkability: Easy to walk to everything I needed.
I stayed at Hotel Trundle for a court reporter convention. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. They were smiling and cheerful every day! The location is perfect. Easy walking distance to the main road, about 1/2 block. I’m a sensitive and once checked in, I could sense a ghost. The staff was pretty open about it. It was fun. Myself and my friends/colleagues in the next room both had friendly experiences with the female ghost there. I guess she likes playing jokes with shoes. Two other friends witnessed the ghost following my neighbor down the stair the last day of our stay. The room was ok. There is a exercise room, free wi-fi, and free breakfast. The breakfast was really good! The parking was convenient. We had a great time!!
Because of Ms. Jess Jeter, we will be back! I called on a random Friday and asked if she had anything available that was kid friendly. I booked a room, long story short, her system messed up and she upgraded the room at no additional cost. She even allowed me to get to the room early to set up a tent, arts and crafts and a GIANT unicorn for all of Taylor street to see. The kids were so surprised when they got to the Unicorn Suite. They felt fancy and included in everything because of the hospitality of all of the staff. We over slept the next morning and they happily brought our breakfast to our room. They even had sparkling grape juice for the kiddos to have their "welcome drink" Thank you again to Jessica Jeter Mom power and Hotel Trundle!
