A+ on customer service! It's invaluable to be able to speak to a real human when you've got questions. The two people I spoke to today were helpful, friendly and knew their stuff. Thanks Team!
Ordered hardware for a cupboard I refinished. Knob backordered, but received the hinges extremely quickly. When I received the knob, I realized I had inadvertently ordered two different finishes. Reordered and returned the incorrect hinges. Received the new hinges the next day and my refund was processed within a week. My initial order required a phone call in which I received exemplary service. Love the hardware, and will happily order from this company again.
I have now ordered from this company several times. The products I have purchased from them have been such great quality at such a reasonable price. They also have great sales. Being a native New Englander I am a lover of historic homes and House of Antique Hardware has so many great products to fit into a wonderful old home. Or a new one! I have had continuous outstanding customer service as well. Thank you House of Antique Hardware!
In rehabbing our 1804 farmhouse, we found House of Antique Hardware to have everything we needed. The product was shipped in a timely fashion and exceeded our expectations. We placed the order toward the beginning of our 3 year project and after moving back into the home I noticed one of the rim latch sets wasn't working properly. I took it apart and saw there was a small steel leaf spring that was broken. I sent an email on Sunday and Monday morning I had a a response from David in customer service saying he would send me out a new one right away. I'm very glad I purchased from them and will refer them to anyone and everyone I can.
Sure, their stuff may look good, but they don't carry any replacement parts. In my case, where I need one door bolt replaced, they told me my only option was to buy the complete assembly again, over $200 to just replace the one piece. Customer service was rude and unhelpful. If you call yourself a hardware store, carry replacements or be seen as BS'ers.
I'm surprised to see the poor reviews. I normally don't write reviews but after seeing the poor reviews I felt compelled to write one. I have ordered different hardware parts for my house for the past 7 years. I have been slowly remodeling different areas of the house to match it past glory and I have found all the parts at House of Antique Hardware. Every time I called to get some answers they were very knowledgable and helpful. The quality of the products is astounding and I wouldn't want to go anywhere else. I highly recommend them! Don't pay attention to those reviews and give them a chance. You won't regret it!
Terrible Customer Service. I purchased a mail slot for a door I purchased at a historic preservation store. Unfortunately, the slot I chose does not work for doors less than 2", though this is not noted in the description. Sadly, I did not discover this until after I had cut out the opening in the door. When I called I was put in touch with a "hardware specialist" who argued with me about the flap opening inward. When he finally agreed the slot I had wouldn't work he wanted to transfer me to a "customer service specialist" for the refund process. I asked if before he did he could help me determine a different slot that would work and fit in the opening I had now cut he told me he only deals with "new orders." Exasperated, I asked to talk to a manager. I was ultimately sent to a new, more experienced, "hardware specialist" Yvette. While she was initially helpful we were not able to determine a suitable replacement. Since that time multiple calls and an email have been unreturned. I was ultimately refunded the purchase price, though they kept the shipping. Had the slot been correct it was well built and would have served my needs well. However, it is now two weeks since I contacted them and I still have no mail slot. I will update this once House of Antique Hardware has helped me to resolve this.
I recently purchased and installed 13 antique brass cupboard latches. They were very expensive but worth every penny. The quality of these latches was outstanding...from the weight, finish, color, mechanical function, hardware screws and even the packaging. Everything about this product says "quality".
Huge selection, hard to find items, great prices, We did not have time to rummage through antique salvage yards for period hardware so we contacted these folks, they had what we needed and delivered at a great price. The iron hinges are robust and look like they came from the local blacksmith. Great experience!
I have restored 3 historic houses with the assistance of these folks. Each time they have given me great advice and provided me with beautiful products. My first venture was a 1910 Craftsman and I was new to the restoration game. I knew that I wanted to do it right, but didn't always know what the correct choices would be. HoAH always patiently steered me in the right direction. By the time I was onto my next project, a 1925 California bungalow, I had read about 100 books, and was actually producing workshops and seminars on restoration. But it's still nice to have a friend in the business and Jennifer, my contact from my first project, was that trusted friend. I felt like I had gone backward, so I went to work on a 1907 Folk Victorian. Back to Jennifer for cool porch hardware and other jewels. I have a huge affinity for antique hardware so I was not just happy, I was thrilled by my purchases and the degree to which they enhanced my cute little house. The hinges on my 95 year old mother's armoire broke so I texted photos of the hardware to Jennifer who promptly sent me some links to where I could possibly find similar items. Yes, I love this place and they have really increased my ability to do quality restorations.
