I had two very sick rescue kittens and couldn't get into to see my regular vet for several weeks. Took a chance and took the kittens to Hume Animal Hospital was delighted with the service and level of caring treatment the kittens received. While prices were a little higher than what my regular vet charges, they weren't exorbitant and I didn't feel like I'd been robbed when I left. Dr. Hume is very knowledgeable and caring and I can't say enough nice things about her and her staff. In the future I will use this clinic whenever my vet isn't readily available.
I usually don't write reviews but this has been bothering me for awhile. Needed a vet for my cat that I just adopted and Hume was listed as a referral for the first complimentary visit which went just okay. The cat later had developed a feline gingivitis issue so I took her in to see the vet. Diagnosis was performed and I was told that all the teeth may possibly need to be removed. I was quoted $400-600 cost if that was the case. As it turned out only 3 teeth needed to be extracted and a good cleaning. The cost ended up being $660! I questioned this since only 3 teeth were removed and was told it is was it is and there is no adjusting the cost that they could do for me. Asked to speak to the Dr as well but was told she would not or could not do anything. Just felt like this was handled very unprofessionally and I was mislead regarding the cost. Didn't even get a post surgery follow up call to check on my pet like I was told would happen! Unfortunately, won't be returning to this vet for any services needed in the future.
I've had now 4 pets 2 cats and 2 dogs that have been cared for by Dr. Hume and Dr. Hedberg, and I have been so happy with their work! When I first moved to Albuquerque, I went to see another vet, and they wanted to charge me outrageous prices for unnecessary procedures on my elderly cat. But, thanks to the Animal Humane, Hume Veterinary was recommended to me when I adopted my puppy, and I am so thankful! My father is a veterinarian, so I know enough to tell when a vet is honest and reasonable--and both these fine doctors are. The one thing that is not perfect is that they require fluids for every single surgery, cat or dog, which raises the price in the range of $70+. But, the policy is for the sake of the animals, even if it is sometimes overly preventative--so it's hard to argue with that. Everything else they've done has been priced reasonably and competitively. Many happy clients in this house!
Hume veterinary hospital is the best in Albuquerque. They truly care about your pets and understand they are family members. They are compassionate, excellent vet's, knowledgeable and you don't have to take out a second mortgage to pay the bill. She calls it like it is and doesn't pull any punches, because she cares about every animal that comes thru their doors and her loyalty it with the pet. They even have a couple "house" cats that live at the clinic, because they were ferel and had no home. Hume vet hospital is one of the last family doc vets places around. They get to know you personally and do everything they can to help your four legged family members. I won't go anywhere else. Thank you Hume, for caring!
Have been taking my dogs,6 borzoi, chiuauas, laborador, German shorthaired, dacksund, etc. to Dr Hume for many years. She is terrific. The services are reasonable and very competantly performed. The staff are genuinely caring.
I have two dogs. One is seen by Dr. Hume and one is seen by Dr. Hedberg. Both have received excellent care. Everyone is very friendly. Their office is clean and I've never had to wait for a scheduled appointment. Very nice people and great service.
I took my dog there for 14 years. Mary is very knowledgeable about animals. She took good care of Wrecks, even on the day he passed away. I will take my new dog to her as well.
Dr. Hume is a fine veterinarian who has been caring for the pets many years. All of the staff contribute to an atmosphere which is all too lacking in many veterinary practices
We had been taking our animals there for years. Let me start this of by saying Dr. Hedburg is a great vet. HOWEVER! Today our family lost a beloved pet. We knew something was wrong this morning and took him in. After trying to overcome pancreatitis it had gone too far. In a panic and worried state my father carried that brave lil pup in in his arms. The front desk attendant then proceeded to push paperwork at him demanding he fill it out. COMPLETELY oblivious to the factthat something was clearly wrong. The cold shoulder that was exibited today has forever tarnished our view of this veterinary office. The passing of a beloved family pet is a hard thing to go through and her actions led to a very angering experiwnce which should have been one of sorrow, loss and sympathy. Dr. Hedburg you need to reconsider some members of your staff. What could have been a less traumatic experience went overboard. We will not EVER be returning. R.I.P. Brodie you lil tiger you. We all miss you.
These folks provide excellent service. They're knowledgeable, kind, and don't inflate costs. We've been going to Hume for 15 years with an embarrassing number of pets!, and we trust them completely.
