I was pleasantly delighted! It is easy to see that this restaurant was once a very solid 5 Star rating, however, based on the first impressions of the entry way, the short wait at the unattended host/hostess stand and short music track which played the same songs in a 30-minute loop, I rated a 4 - albeit a very strong 4. The food was very good, arrived piping hot and was absolutely worth the wait. Wait staff was attentive and the atmosphere was elegantly decorated.
Great food and staff! Nice menu includes many Thai dishes. I asked if they could make mine spicy and they said yes but they do not do spicy very well so ask for extra hot if you like! Nice decor and a small, full bar as well.
I have a new favorite Chinese food restaurant! They had the best Wonton soup ever and the best War Shu Chicken! I've ever eaten! My daughter had Pad Thai and she felt the same way!
5-10min wait to see our server. Nice and blunt. They don’t like interacting with their customers. Appetizers were delicious though. Vegetable spring roll isn’t greasy and nice and crispy. Bamboo shrimp was awesome. However the sauce wasn’t very good. Dipping shrimp in sweet and sour sauce was delicious though. 30min wait for main course. Main course was delicious. But another 15min wait after finishing dinner to get the check. This is great food but definitely better as carry out vs dine in. No discount for double drinks. They charge you for 2.
Be prepared to be transported back to 1968 with the classical jazz music and historic oriental decor. Service here isn't swift or staffed up. Much in need of an aesthetic and operational facelift, the menu makes up the lacking parts of Hunan House. All of our items came out hot and made to order. The General Tso's isn't a new or novel take on a classic but is a reliable choice, just flavorful and spicy enough to keep getting it every time you come. If you want more spice or a non-breaded option, the Hunan Chicken is the edgier option on the menu. If you like some noodles with your meal, the Pad Thai delivers in rich spades.
We drive 45 min to eat at this restaurant. Hands down the best Chinese restaurant in columbus . It's more expensive than your fast food Chinese restaurants but all the food is hand made not from a can or box . This place is amazing !!!! I have been going to this restaurant for at least 20 years it is always clean and they are always so nice . Worth every penny spent !!!
I've been here a bunch of times over the years. They give you a bunch of food and it's usually really good. A little bit pricey, though. 4 people eating with appetizers routinely gets to about $80. The portions are usually too big for me to eat in one meal, but usually not by much. The restaurant is generally clean and quiet. It's nothing special but it's not bad. It's rarely full when we go in so we've never had to wait. The parking lot is big and it has handicap access too. Their food is fairly standard fair for its price range. There isn't anything overly fancy. The menu reads like most Chinese food menus. That's not a bad thing by any stretch. We enjoy coming here, it's a good time and our service has never been poor or anything. Haven't had anything to complain about. It's pretty good.
Food is ok but floor and other not right. Need to get more improvements.
I went with a pretty large group for my sister's birthday so we all got something different and sampled each other's food. Every dish was the absolute best I have had anywhere. By far the best egg rolls. Seafood velvet soup was new to me...but so delicious. Hunan fried rice was also the best. My sister's got general tso's tofu with fried rice. That was prepared to perfection. The place is beautiful. The service was outstanding. Dory did a tremendous job. Even posing us for pictures. And it was closing time but we were told to relax and take our time. I wish I could give it 6 stars.
Hunan House is a nice, comfortable sit down Chinese restaurant. When we go it's a 1.5 - 2 hour meal. It's drinks, appetizers, etc. It's more expensive then the corner carryout but well worth it. The portions are large and will easily feed 2 people. Try the mala green beans. Very tasty and a little spicy. We've had a number of different meals and they've always been excellent. The staff is very friendly and attentive. James was our server tonight and he was so nice. Great place.
