Came here for a Christmas meal of their whole Beijing Duck, and everything was excellent across the board. Calming atmosphere and ambiance. Attentive, efficient, and professional wait staff. Every bit of the food was incredible as well, being the best we’ve had for any of the dishes. Scallion pancakes were so savory and delicious. The whole duck more than fed our party of 3, it was carved at the table, and it was perfectly cooked. Just a piece of skin has more flavor than most restaurants do. It was made all the better by the Hoisin Sauce they provided, which went great with everything. Overall it was a very memorable experience, completely worth the price for the high-quality you receive. It was so good we might make coming here at least a yearly tradition, if not more often.
Hwa Yuan exceeded what we could even expect. As soon as we walked in the door with were welcomed by the most friendly staff and the chef as we walked to our table. Everyone was so delightful and open to provide theirand the chefs recommendations. We got the house wontons, pork soup dumplings oh my god these were delicious, shrimp dumplings, vegetable friend rice, fish special I forget what kind of fish it was and of course the Beijing duck! Every. Single. Bite. Was insane. The Beijing duck with the crepes was so amazing, they cut it up at your table for the full experience - and the fish in the bean sauce really blew our minds. I absolutely will be back for this again next time I’m in NYC. If I can give any advice - get what the staff recommends ; you won’t be disappointed :
The food was so delicious. Each bite I took I was waiting for the next bite. We had the Pork Soup Dumplings, the Cold Sesame Noodles and Chongqing Chicken. Everything was delicious. The Pork Soup Dumplings were steaming hot and full of flavourful soup. The coating was super thin. The Cold Sesame Noodles came out very quickly. The staff mixes it up really well for you. The noodles were cooked to perfection and the sauce was thick yet coated the noodles well. I think it was the best Sesame noodles I’ve eaten. The Chongqing Chicken was extremely tasty. It had that sichuan pepper flavour yet the flavour is not overpowering.
Taste is clean and bit more refined than other places around the neighborhood. Beijing Duck was pretty good. Really liked the cold sesame noodles probably the best one I've had. Snow pea leaves were great and mapo tofu was spot on.
Excellent food and service in an excellent location! We were warmly greeted when we arrived for lunch and were seated at what was a superbe round table in a corner, perfect for 2 people! We started our meal with some scallion pancakes, then had steamed fish with ginger and scallions with rice and noodles. Yum! Food was delicious!
I read reviews on restaurants that served Chinese food and Beijing duck and this restaurant has great reviews so my family dined there tonight and this restaurant exceeds 5 stars. The food is great and the chef and staff all go above and beyond. They take time to talk to customers and genuinely care about their customers dining experience. Thank you so much, the next trip to NYC I will definitely dine here again.
Had a fantastic time at Hwa Yuan. We went not knowing it was a nice restaurant and we didn’t want to spend much so we got just a few plates of food. The fried rice was amazing! We also got the veggie dumplings which were really great. This place is good for groups.
The dumplings, fried rice with shrimp, asparagus, egg rolls, and spicy tofu were all amazing! We had a lot of food, and the staff was very kind and the food came out on time. Definitely recommend for great Chinese food in Chinatown!Dine in: Yes
In traditional old Chinatown, onEast Broadway, this restaurant is a rare addition. The design is in modern style but the foods are authentic as native Chinese used to had in their early age back to China. The restaurant is quite and elegantly decorated and Service persons are polite and efficient. When most of good Chinese restaurants moved to Flushing, Hua Yuan keeps tradition but in a fashion way. Highly recommend.
Was here for a party. Upscale Chinese restaurant on East Broadway serving up Sichuan style dishes, but I thought the flavors were just meh. They definitely need a lazy Susan on every table. Passing dishes over others started to get annoying, plus the plates were a bit heavy. High probability why I never came was because of overpriced, small portioned mediocre food. Four stars for their friendly staff and attentive service.
