This use to be one of my favorite stores for years. Was great to shop for old and new military clothing, etc. Since they moved, the selection has really declined as well as staff attitude. The sales guy on the 1st floor was so annoyed that I could only describe the Army accessory I wanted, not the item number! Ask for a specific item and they have no idea if they’ll get it in. I’ll be shopping online for now on.
Their new location has a much better organization system. It's very clean and looks nice. Lost some of the character of the old location. Also lost the smell surplus products used to have which is a good thing.
Place is great. Had a hiking trip to some of the national parks in the western part of the state and found some good supplies for the trip. Nice selection of footwear, cold weather apparel, and work attire. My favorite stores in the city.
I Goldberg use to be the standard when it came to Army/Navy stores. I've been going there for years and this was my first time there since they moved to this location. Even when I moved out of the city, I would take that 90 min. drive just to go to the store. I was thoroughly disappointed! Military selection was subpar at best. I went in there to get a Marine Corps hooded sweatshirt as I was attending a birthday celebration and they had none. Very little in the way of any military items and the items they had were over priced. I even tried searching for Marine Corps items on their website and only came up with flags. Will not return any time soon. Good luck finding a parking spot!
Nice and roomy! Your thinking they don't carry that much till you keep going backstore towards the directory . Though Icouldn't easily notice their could be an ElevatorI climbed the 2 levesl it was worth it! Promised myself to only purchase thermal wear, here
Helpful staff, have 3 floors, well structured n got myself few patches, pricing is good, but only issue is u can miss even if u walked just next to it. Need to do something on outdoors to get noticed. Shall be here again to buy some.more stuff soon
This isn't the I Goldberg's you remember, they have no stock, their inventory is sparse and junky, they didn't even have Multitools, and was told "they had no idea the next time they would order leatherman or related tools", they didn't even have flashlights in stock. Staff was rude. No longer a one stop camping shop, you'll be better off shopping online, or finding another store to find what you actually need. I'm not sure what this new store is supposed to be anymore. Good place to buy limited surplus clothing if you need to complete an outfit. Bonus however, is the space is wheelchair accessible.
Have Loved This Iconic Store Since I Bought My First Pea Coat in the Late 1960's and Just Read Yesterday That Tomorrow August 23rd, 2019 is It Last Day Of Business!! So Sad, Glad I've Shared This Gem With Friends and Grandchildren Through The Years!! You Will Be Missed!!
The staff is very courteous and knowledgeable. They have a wide selection of goods and plenty of larger size clothes which are hard for me to find. Well worth the hour drive to shop here .
Shopping with them for many decades. For me its been premier for militaria, authentic surplus and out door wear. My items last forever, and are beaten down by age or outdoor adventures or simply lost, so I go here to replace them. They are now close to their old location from the 1980s. Its clean and larger, 3 levels with an elevator inside and bathrooms on every floor. It feels like old Philly, when South Street was not commercial, when you could park on the street easily during the daytime. I wish them more power and hope they stay for the next 100 years.
