Love it here. They do great layer cuts for curly hair. Quick and kind!!Service: Haircut
Great salon, owner really knows her stuff. You don’t meet a lot of stylist that really know about hair types, some more of a passion vs. a job. For many years I struggled to find a good stylist in DMV area, with no luck. I finally found her. :
I wish that I could give this place 0 stars! I went to get my hair done at Image Hair Salon and it was a huge mistake! I was letting my hair grow out and it was nearly to my shoulders. I have fine thin hair. I am a mixed black woman. Black Foot Indian, Cherokee Indian and Italian is in my family tree. I asked for a hair trim and style. The hair stylist cuts the back of my hair off and leaves the front of my hair long. The stylist kept burning me and I kept flinching. The flat iron was way too hot! I told her so as well! My hair did look nice afterwards but I didn't expect the back of my hair to be chopped off! I am very angry about this! I hate my hair length now. I am trying the rice water treatment now along with hair, skin and nails vitamins. Fortunately for me my hair grows fast.
Honestly I go there in between appts with my original stylist at another salon. I will say that the lady in the back does a good job styling my hair. The main issues I have run into is that they do not know how to treat or detangle natural thick hair. The last visit, my natural hair was pulled out to the point where my original stylist noticed damage to my hair. Also I do feel that the owner is never welcoming and as an African American, I didn’t feel welcome there.
Affordable women's haircut. Around $35 for a serviceable haircut, but nothing fancy. I've now visited most hair places in Columbia Heights. This one is affordable and it's nice to just walk in to get my haircut. Limited English with many of the staff, so if you want something specific it is best to bring a photo.
Marianna at first seat has been my go-to for many years keeping my hair squared away. Highly recommend her and all of the staff at Image Salon.
On their website it says they do natural hair, and my hair is in an Afro. I come in around 11:15 am and I tell who I assume is the owner that I want my ends trimmed and she says the person isn't in right now but will be in around 11:30-12. I wait the time and around 12:30 I decide I'm going to leave, as I'm heading out the the beautician is coming in, so they call me back. I tell her what I want and she's discussing back and forth with the owner for a couple of minutes and then finally tells me they can't do my hair. If you can't actually do natural hair don't advertise it and make customers wait over an an hour!
I went on a Saturday, and it was super crowded. Luckily, they attended me right away. However, I spent close to 4 hours in the salon to get highlights. Since my hair was previously colored, I had to get a base color. I was placed under the heating seat twice, which at the end made my hair smell burnt that lasted about two weeks. The lady who attended me was nice, but the process took too long and I did not get the color that I wanted. Pretty disappointed.
Mylein is amazing. I love how she does my hair, I have thick, natural, and curly hair that she can blow out so soft and without heat damage! I relocated here for school and I wouldn't go to anyone else in D.C area!
