3.5/5 - food is excellent, everything else, not so much This place offers classic dishes with minor tweaks that really bring out a unique experience. Would recommend the butter chicken and black pepper lamb. The rest of the experience was less enjoyable. Our server was hard to reach and it took forever to put in our order. The atmosphere of the spot is also a bit weird. The restaurant is dark and tried too hard to be fancy. The food is also quite expensive for the portions.
This restaurant is located in downtown Sunnyvale. There are other locations around the Bay Area as well. The parking is a bit difficult on weekends and Friday evening. The waiting was minimal. We ordered couple of cocktails named Indian sunrise and Bombay misbehavior vodka based and Bacardi rum based cocktail respectively. The first one was for fruity and mild on the alcohol. The latter one has a great balance of spices and alcohol. We also ordered crispy chili potatoes, chilli garlic fried rice and chow mein. The food was really tasty and the portions were filling. They also have an assortment of table side sauces which are really tasty and also complement the food very well. The one thing that was off-putting was the fact that the staff was hurrying us to vacate the seat for seating others, even though we were just packing our leftover food in to-go containers.
Ambience is always great! Service is consistently top notch, never feel forgotten, and there is always staff coming back to clear your table, and ask if we need anything. Tall Indian host has been here for a while and is great at his job! Bamboo Garden is great for those who have families that want a little variety for each person! Best part is that this place gets crazy packed on weekends and evenings and the service never shows any sign of stress or lesser effort. Been here many times and will definitely continue to return!
One of the few places with a Desi read Indian touch! Their chicken tandoori momos are a must try! Not to forget, their plethora of crafty cocktail options to order from. The food was good, service quick and staff courteous.Food: 4/5
In Chin's Bamboo Garden, is located in Murphy Avenue. Indo-Chinese Cuisine. Many options for Vegetarians and Non Vegetarians, freshly cooked dishes makes the experience amazing. Murphy Avenue in Sunnyvale is a trendy destination for an afternoon latte, and a late-night drink. The area is easy accessible by light rail, bus, commuter rail, and automobile, with various public transportation routes passing through and nearby parking lots available.
The place was busy but we didn't have to wait too long. The service was quick but the food wasn't good at all. Mostly very bland. Ordered the Chinese bhel, hakka noodles, Kung pao paneer, fried momo, and Thai yellow curry. Chinese bhel and Kung pao paneer were decent. The Thai Yello curry was very bad. It was super watery and had no taste to a point where we had to return it I never return food. When we asked the server they said "it is what it is". Probably not the best answer. They did take it back and did not charge us. Hakka noodles were very bland to a point we were dumping a bunch of sauce in it for flavor. The fried momos were very bland and completely filled with oil. The oil was dripping everywhere.
The chicken noodles we ordered hardly had any chicken pieces. The soup was overly tangy and the Chinese behl did not meet the standards of a true Indian chaat which we expected. The place was super crowded. Service was quick but lacked flavor.
We went there on a Friday night around 8pm and waited for 20 minutes for a table which is normal- they didn’t take reservations when we called around 5pm. We ordered multiple dishes; Chinese Bhel, Sambal Lamb and Burnt Garlic Rice with Chicken and all were really good. Sambal lamb was very spicy. Chinese Bhel was a perfect starter. We also ordered a Fried Ice Cream and it was awesome! Service was good, though a bit overcharging for gratitude for a table of five 21%.
When you walk in, it looks expensive due to the design and all the decorations. Surprisingly, it's affordable like every other restaurants in downtown. When you get in, the staffs will greet you and guide on where you need to sit. They will check up on you a few times to see if you're ok or need anything else or clean up the dishes/refill your water. Now onto the food, we ordered Five-spice lamb, Wings of heaven, and Kashmiri lamb curry. The curry was full of flavors and delicious. However, the wings and lamb were lacking something. Luckily, the restaurant provide you with their own sauces which was so good. For the vegan options, they had a lot of those and more than most places. Very nice addition and would recommend trying this place!
I have been here in the past pre-covid. The restaurant has a very nice ambience and is put together in a nice way. I particularly liked the bar area. I recalled that the restaurant can get busy but we went for a late lunch and surprisingly we able to get seated pretty quickly. The waitress we had was excellent as was all the service staff refilling of water etc. We had a few of the items from soups to noodle dishes. My hot and sour soup was good but a relatively small amount. The rest of the items were not particularly memorable and the chili noodles just tasted like pasta with a chili sauce, it was disappointing. The dish didn’t taste as “Indo-Chinese fusion” as I am used to. In fact I had a similar noodle pre-Covid that I remembered was a lot better. The other dishes were also quite average. However, I would come back as service was good, ambience nice so it’s a good place to hang out with friends … The food however I would say was average. Perhaps next time I’ll choose some different items.
