IMMC is America's first museum focused on educating the American public about Islamic history and culture and the contribution of Muslims to the world
As America’s first Islamic history and culture museum, IMMC is dedicated to educating the American public about Islamic history and culture, the contribution of Muslims to the global community, and the diversity of the Muslim community.
IMMC’s aim is to be a venue for presenting the diverse Islamic cultural histories and contributions, and serve as an educational resource for teaching global consciousness, historical literacy, and multicultural appreciation.
To accomplish this vision, IMMC seeks to continue its growth as a cultural tourism destination, serving the American community, Muslims and non-Muslims, as a research and educational center, and repository for Islamic objects having cultural, artistic, aesthetic, and historical significance. The Museum researches, collects, preserves, exhibits, and interprets objects, stories, and history that promote the Museum’s mission. IMMC develops educational workshops, seminars, other programs for teachers and the general public, and curriculum for grades 6-12 and institutions of higher learning.
The Museum facilitates multi-cultural and interfaith dialogue to promote understanding; reduces religious, cultural, and racial bigotry; and advances Mississippi and America's religious and civic discussions to provide a better atmosphere for working together for the common good. IMMC illustrates to the American public the diversity of the Muslim community: past, present and future.
IMMC is a 501- C-3 Non-profit organization governed by a board of directors
