Iowa Lutheran Hospital

Last night, sought medical care for my mentally ill wife in Luthern ER, due to bipolar manic episode. 3 hours in the ER; didn't allow family to enter exam room, nor did they ask any information or history from the family to ascertain accuracy of my wife's report. Twice I asked to speak to the examining physician assistant, as I had been advised to do from my wife's outpatient mental health doctor. Admission to the hospital was denied, instructing my wife to continue with her present medications until she sees her doctor for her regularly scheduled appointment in 3 more days! I question the appropriateness of this medical care.

When my daughter was born they put in her file that I wasn't the father. They also put her last name as mine and the mothers with a hyphen. They were told the exact opposite. I also had to argue with them about filing that she was even born. It took almost a month. They also said she is tongue tied but if you actually looked she has a cleft tongue. I spent a lot of time straightening it all out and had to file for the correct last name myself. The mother was in labor for almost a week and instead of popping her water yhe doctor refused and my daughter ended up in fetal distress and had to be delivered by c-section. In the end I had to threaten a lawsuit yell at the top of my lungs and it was because they faultsified government records of birth. I am followed by security any time. I enter there building and this isn't the first time I have had to deal with medical malpractice from them and there affiliates. Know your rights and what they are by law required to do or don't go because they lie and their specialist have never followed what is considered appropriate medical procedures.

Carrie and Amanda that work in labor and delivery are amazing. Carrie was by far my favorite nurse she took care of my daughter when I had her the 19th of December clear up til we got discharged. She would come in and give me a break so I could sleep or just to hang out with my daughter we were the only patients there at the time. Lutheran is a very good place if you want one on one with the nurses with your babies and yourself. They came to check on me all the time they were always on time for my meds and stuff I had to take. I would go back if I was to have another baby but I am getting fixed I have 2 babies and that's enough for me.

My husband was on the CICU unit. And while there he and I were treated with the upmost respect and genuine concern. It would be hard too single one nurse out. We couldn't have asked or expected better! God Bless you all! Know that your dedication and hard work aren't going unnoticed and you are VERY appreciated! Thank you, Dore Smith

The nurses and techs on 2N were awesome. No one wishes to be hospitalized but this group of outstanding professionals made it all tolerable. They were caring and committed to making sure the patient was well cared for and went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure my mother was handled with dignity.
