Rather disappointed in my experience. As an Irish family, we always love checking out Irish stores and giftshops when we travel. In prepping for our visit to Boston, I read several reviews raving about Irish Eyes. So, we made it a point to stop by and check it out. We arrived at the Market around 10:15 am. The market's posted hours state that it opens at 10 am and Irish Eye's Yelp page indicates that they open at 9 am. So, we thought we'd be good to go when we found the booth around 10:30. As we approached, the lady was busying herself with part of the display. So, we thought we'd browse around and give her plenty of space to finish her work. No sooner than we stepped up and began scanning the offerings, she curtly states, "not open yet, guys." As someone who has worked in retail, I get it. Sometimes you're just not ready or something happens to delay opening. So, it's not what was said so much as the tone it was said in. Also, I feel like there are just a hundred other ways to communicate that in a way that expresses, "I'm not ready just yet, but please come back in X minutes and we'll be all set." But the reception we received felt more like, "I don't want to be here and I don't want you be either." So, we left and didn't bother coming back.
Whew! When I tell you never again, I mean it! I purchased 3 hoodies from this location. There was a sign on the pile saying to ask for help and not dig through on my own so I asked for help. It was difficult to get the woman to understand what I meant by "I need 3 hoodies size XL." We went back and forth as she asked multiple times what I wanted. I had to break it down one at a time. She seemed frustrated every time I said I needed another hoodie even though my original request was for three. Several other people gathered during this time waiting for help and so when she gave me my total which was wrong I let it go. I went back to ask after all the other people had left. I was charged $2 extra for hoodies where the price was explicitly stated on a sign. She said the owner had upped the price $2 and there was nothing she could do about it even though the sign stated the price. She also charged more for the XL size even though the sign said that the XXL was more. The whole process was a test and I'm glad my nephew and nieces liked the hoodies. I would suggest going in and purchasing things that don't require you asking a sales attendant for any kind of help. And beware of random prices surges.
Selection is nice, but the lady who runs the place seems kind of crooked—beware. I asked about the price of an item, and she told me $15. I then gave it to her to purchase. She removed the price tag, and then suddenly seemed to remember the price as being $30, not $15. When I said I was not interested in the item at the higher price, she gave me a death glare. I offered to replace the item since it was on a high hook. She replied snarkily that she’d already removed the tag, then mumbled that my family and I should just get out of the store. As if I’M a monster because I don’t want to buy something she has decided on a whim to double the price of.
Pretty impressive collection of Celtics gear and prices are good for the quality. Lots of sizes, up to xxl.
