Took a chance on this place and glad we did. Small hole in the wall with tons of flavor. If a busy day of the week, make sure you make a reservation. We got seated with in 15 minutes and our server was to the table promptly. She immediately informed us of how large their portion sizes were and that most meals are shareable which will save you money, but me being with teenagers we all went to try something different. We got their pickle flight with candied beats, totally gangster and awesome pickles. I got the country fried chicken with sawmill gravy, so tasty and delicious with really good gravy. True southern comfort food. My guests got pancakes and chicken with bacon, he loved it, the other got bacon egg and cheese sandwich, he liked it but said way too much mayo and my last guest got the biscuits and gravy with fries, he didn’t say anything about it except that he crushed it. The dessert of the candy came red velvet biscuit, bread pudding… well it wasn’t my favorite, but I don’t like super sweet and candy cane punch but some may. The ambience is nice, but wish would have a little more light and turn the music down a little, otherwise fantastic.
Wow! Love love love this place. High energy & great atmosphere & simply fun. It is loud and the music is too loud too. Bad sound system so work on that if you want to play music that loud. Service was excellent & friendly. Food is absolutely delicious & be aware that the portions are HUGE. WORTH EVERY & ALL CALORIES . Outdoors sitting is great but poorly decorated. Highly recommend this spot. I was highly disappointed of the mac cheese. Had no flavor. Maybe it was just ours.
My personal favorite brunch spot in Manhattan. Every time I come here, it's always filled with glorious gluttony. Portions are huge so it's a great spot for sharing food, and the drinks pair well with pretty much everything on the menu. The wait times can be somewhat long, especially during the summer brunch season, but most of the time you get your table quicker than expected, so instead of popping by another spot further away, stop by Tiki Chick right next door for a fantastic adult beverage and relax while you wait!
This place lives up to the hype. I’ve been meaning to go to Jacob’s Pickles ever since I moved into the city about two years ago, but never had the opportunity. I went for breakfast and everything exceeded my expectations. The interior of the restaurant is so cozy, with beautiful rustic design and lively music booming throughout the space. Our waitress was kind and accommodating - we received an item that was cold and it was immediately replaced and comped off the bill without question. I also appreciate a good water and coffee service, and the wait staff made sure our drinks were full throughout our meal. We sampled all of the pickles, and my favorite had to be the spicy ones. They were all delicious and served in a fun platter. Our table also ordered the biscuits with assorted jams and butters, which were as soft and moist as cake. For the main course, I split the chicken and pancakes. The syrup that was on top of the dish wasn’t my favorite, as the table side syrup they provide is stellar and knocks the other one out of the water. The portion sizes are heaping and I have a bunch of leftovers sitting in my fridge as I write this review. I will definitely be returning to Jacob’s Pickles as the quality and portion of each dish are spectacular, further bolstered by the stellar service and ambience.
The food and drinks here are amazing! The fried chicken is DELICIOUS and their biscuits are so tasty. I highly recommend trying out their cocktails because they certainly don’t hold back on the alcohol and still manage to make it a tasty drink. This place probably has my favorite cocktail and southern food experience!
The portions are enormous, and the food is delicious. To begin, we received the bacon steak. Delicious. a large piece of bacon cooked over a steakhouse grill. But you'll want to come here hungry because this is the kind of place. Be prepared to bring some food home with you even then. thrilled to return.
Come with an appetite! These portions are huge so maybe also bring a few friends! The pulled pork sandwich special is amazing. Spicy chicken sandwich was soo good, but easily enough chicken for 3+ people no joke. Deviled eggs were insane and over the top. Pickles are pretty epic too. To be honest, felt pretty wasteful about the amount of food and since it’s so greasy, it’s not like you’d have it boxed up to eat later :/ Trust me, there will be leftovers. Staff is nice, but a little sassy because of the high volume, so I get it. Fun spot for a friendly gathering. Inside is pretty loud but outside seating has heaters and less loud.
I wanted to like this place so bad. Especially seeing as it had raving reviews! If you are someone that like your food very soggy than this is the place for you. I came with a group of friends and we all kind of decided to try different things! Especially me, i ordered the hot chicken biscuit the whole bottom of the biscuit was drenched. Couldn’t even pick it up. I also ordered catfish tacos, the moment i picked up one taco it fell apart because it was so wet, also very flavorless the toppings were wet and tasteless and when i just decided to try the catfish it was very mushy. I also ordered the midnight Mac and that smelled and tasted amazing!! So I’ll give them that! My friends ordered the Turkey legs, the smothered chicken biscuit, the collard green and black eyed peas, and the regular mac. They all loved the greens and said they would come back just for that. The chicken was a bit overwhelming but the meat itself was great and they liked the Turkey legs. I will definitely try this place again for brunch. Oh and also we got the jam jars which we all enjoyed!! And the biscuit and fixings was amazing!! The biscuits were crispy on the outside and soft in the middle and the fixings were tasty! We also got the deviled eggs which were okay. The center section was just a tad bit overwhelming also. But not bad!
My favorite southern spot for a hearty brunch. I don’t think anywhere in nyc can you get food in such big portions. Ordered the BBQ chicken biscuit, it was heavenly and enough for two. The ambiance is pretty vibrant and though it can get extra loud inside, the tables outside are perfect. You get a glimpse of the music but not enough to interfere with your conversations. The staff is efficient and friendly. Will be definitely going back for more biscuits.
Everything about this place is amazing. Inside seating was nice n cool and low romantic lighting. Candles in jars everywhere. I really enjoyed the spicy margarita, it's my fave version yet and it's strong. I had two and was able to take the second in a to go cup. The fried green tomatoes were perfect. The mushroom smothered chicken sandwich was huge. My boyfriend and I split it and still had left overs. The chicken was juicy and fried crispy. We got a side of collard greens with black eyed peas. Delicious. Every bite was full of flavor and we will definitely be back to try the others. That biscuit bread pudding with ice cream is next on the list.
