2nd time I have tried to visit this facility, still closed. drove for over an hour to Little Indian by Sullivan & now it's closed for maintenance as well...all the pretty pictures in the world don't mean squat when you can't get a facility open that is being paid for with tax dollars, Henges is a 15 min drive for me but I can't use it. Seriously not happy that I wasted better part of a day off & can't use 2 state facilties.

This range is fantastic. For only $3/hr, you get a large booth and unlimited targets. It's a covered outdoor range, which is the best of both worlds. Be sure to follow the rules: 1 target at a time, 1 shot every 3 seconds, 1 firearm on the table at a time, when to shoot and when to cease fire, when to replace targets, etc. The rules seem tedious at first, but just ensure everyone stays safe. They have a good system in place to help prevent mistakes. If you have questions, just ask one of the numerous range guides. In my experience, they have always been nice and helpful.

Always CLOSED. Update Website! - How many dozens or maybe hundreds of peoples time are you wasting! This is the second time this year I've driven to Jay Henges, 50 minutes each way and a day off work that I could have enjoyed doing something different. Nice facility, but me , my family, and everyone else I can deter from going to this facility will be encouraged to avoid this place. Absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional.

Great shooting range, but rifle and pistol range currently closed, no specified time frame on when it will be open. Just give them a call every other week to check before making the drive

Edit update: the site manager of Jay henges went ahead and gave me a call as soon as he heard my experience and took the time to have a one-hour phone conversation with me on Saturday hearing out my frustration. He was very understanding and explained the process of why the range is closed and how they're trying to get opened up as soon as possible but have had their hands tied with Contracting issues for the necessary repairs to the range to get it back to complete a 100% safe shooting environment. He also explained that the behavior expressed by his customer service representative was beyond unacceptable and he was addressing the situation immediately. For now I've changed my review to three stars from one as when I return to give it another chance I'll leave room for those last two stars to be gained back! I'm glad the situation was being addressed with the young worker at the facility as well, as we need great people representing this department. I hope it was just a learning experience for him and he can move forward with the MDC!
This USED to be one of my favorite ranges. The prices were hard to beat and it was a good family shooting environment. The range officers were always a little over the top (they make you wait three seconds between shots which is absurd in my opinion) but I'd rather there be a more restrictions than being unsafe, so I was always okay with it. as other user recently stated they are always CLOSED for some reason or another. Now they have been closed for maintenance since before November (and they only have a tiny hidden link on their page to justify people being upset driving all the way out to find they are closed). I'm no Tech wizard, but I can navigate websites perfectly fine and when you go on their website it has Range and hours advertised with no mention of being closed! Only if you click on a very small little link on the bottom of the page nearly hidden, you'll find a note about it being shut down for maintenance. With no reopening date.... The best part about it? When you call in to try to express your frustration and give some constructive advice about how this should be displayed better they have some young punk kid answering the phone laughing under his breath when you tell him you wasted 45 minutes driving out. It's been my favorite range for years, always a little strict but great pricing and good for the family you're losing valuable customers. And your customer service representative service representative that's answering the phone in representing the MDC is doing a terrible job. Especially considering with my contributions to conservation and tax dollars my money goes to pay his salary. Get your act together, for now I won't be back.
