My job didn't work out for me but I still think JBS was a great place to work. I started out as a front line supervisor . I had 0 percent production experience and felt like I was in over my head .I was still pretty new and asked to be moved to a different position where I felt I could do a better job for the company. The management refused to work with me .I was so proud to work for JBS and would have loved to stay employed .I felt that I had a lot to offer the company. I guess they felt differently. I don't understand the reasoning behind the decision since it has been hard to get and keep employees .Why would you not work with an employee who was dedicated, reliable, and went beyond the job description as well as work far beyond 40 hours a week? The decision just makes no sense. My supervisor was even ready to write a letter of recommendation. I am sure I will spend many hours wondering what if. I am not angry just extremely hurt. I am learning the hard way that hard work, a willingness to go above and beyond the job description, and dedication just doesn't pay off any more.

I never thought I would find a place worse than JBS Swift in Marshalltown IA. I stand corrected today. THE most unorganized, filthy, dirty, dusty, muddy meat shipper to date. Bring shoes you don't mind ruining. To start, they actually have two docks, but one is called Lineage. No signs ANYWHERE about where trucks should go. The unmarked wash rack, in the unmarked drop yard. The 4 or 5 different yards you might find your loaded trailer, "oh, if it isn't still in our dock. Or our other dock down the street"(Lineage). A scale you are free to use, unless you want axle weights, then it's "cash only, baby." But easily the coup de grace was the rude and uncaring guard shack staff. How poor Iowa has been cursed with all these horrid meat packers is beyond me. How the USDA allows such dirty yards/road surfaces as well. When it isn't 3" deep mud, it's clouds of fine "moon dust" that can probably be seen from the International Space Station. Certainly backing in/pulling out of docks with trailer doors open is letting this dirt into nice clean floors everywhere. If I could ZERO stars.
