24 hour service as long as the river is navigable and the landings aren't under water. This is one of 3 free river ferries in Illinois along with the Brussels Ferry and the Cave-in-Rock Ferry. Check IDOT website for road closures that may affect the ferry operation in late winter or flooding.

Free ferry at Kampsville IL run by the state 24/7. Connects to east side of river in Greene County to the little town of Eldred, IL. Beyond there is Carrollton, Il.
