The other day, my building decided to out of the blue paint all our apartment doors. You know where this is going. They knocked on our door and let us know painting was being done, but neglected to tell us that it was the whole door, and they only told us it was the side of the door. Soooo my newly bought Aritzia white parka coat took the brunt of the black paint. Upsetting, not the end of the world, I decided to spot clean it myself. Dish soap, detergent, tide pen, even vinegar. I was frustrated because while this coat is only a coat, it was $350, and because of the condition it was in, I wouldn't wear it out due to it looking like a sloppy mess. But also didn't want to waste the coat. I took it down to Kay, and I've never been here. Immediately she told me I shouldn't have tried anything but she'll try her best. The dry clean took $75 for this huge coat, but she didn't leave me in hopeful spirits - I was ready to come back to a still stained coat. Today, I picked it up and it looks as good as new. It was incredible! I have never used their wash and fold services so I can't speak on that, but I do love how warmly they treated me. Reading other reviews, it does seem they run on the pricey end but my experience was great so I don’t mind spending more to support a small business.

I’ve used Kay French Cleaners since I moved to the neighborhood in January. They are extremely professional, efficient and take great care to go through each item and what you’d like to have done. I’ve used almost all of the services they offer wash and fold, alterations and dry cleaning and am always impressed by the speed and more importantly the quality of their work- always exactly what I asked for and when it comes to my alterations and cleanings they have pulled off a couple of small miracles! Needed to alter a pair of very delicate white suit pants, the folks at Kay were careful to make sure the seams were smooth and no damage occurred in the process of deconstructing and reconstructing. I have been using the amazing dry cleaning and tailoring services at Kay French Cleaners for as long as I can remember. When the pandemic hit NYC almost a year ago, I also had them do wash and fold for us, too. Of note, I became much friendlier with one of the proprietors, Cathy, and also started entrusting to them extremely delicate special vintage items for cleaning and repair that I may have taken further afield to places that were now more challenging to access. Cathy and the tailor, Mr. Kim, also helped with a nightmare: moth holes! The horror! I was in tears. Cathy took seriously sequestering the items of issue that would be handled in a special way with different machines. Mr. Kim then worked his magic on a vintage plaid cape peppered with holes and I can no longer tell where they are. Also of importance, Cathy has an eagle eye and knows if there may be an issue with certain fabrics being dry cleaned, and, in fact, the shop also prints images of questionable items which you can educate yourself by viewing under the counter glass. I knew a lot of fabrics and care. I know more now from Cathy. Neighborhood gem. Neighborhood treasure!
