Awesome job! Experienced, and trustworthy. Gave me realistic expectations and walked me through the insurance aspect. Great value for quality of work. My Car looked amazing when I picked it up!! Highly recommend!
" it takes a lifetime to build a good reputation, but you can lose it in a minute." -Will Rogers Starnes auto repair has produced the worst customer service experience of my 44 year life. At a minimum, they are unresponsive, manipulative, and care nothing for their clients. At worst, bait and switch and outright lying to customers are part of their daily protocol to ensure maximum profits are squeezed out of every unfortunate soul that walks through their doors. Upon recommendation from my insurance company, I will be taking the matter up with the North Carolina Attorney General. I have previously used Starnes for repair with extremely positive experiences. Their business model has changed for the worse. A new bumper was all I needed. As straightforward as they come. Starnes turned the repair into a 40 day saga. The first two weeks included no communication or discernible work done on the car. I was forced to babysit every step of the process. Once engaged, Starnes' numbers to the insurance company included inflated estimates of cost ensuring a long negotiation before work commenced. With these red flags, I asked Starnes the cost to take my car away for a second opinion and a number was never provided. Yes- they planned to charge me to get my car back because they knew a second opinion would be so much lower. Instead, Starnes assured me that he agreed in principal with the insurance company on the scope of repair and cost. If anything was found to create a higher cost, they would be in touch. Once a plan/costs had been agreed, parts were ordered. After a week, Starnes claimed to receive a defective bumper, forcing the part to be reordered. Another week later and the work was finally complete, but the repair bill ballooned from 3,500 to 10,400. Upon further inspection, Starnes then agreed to drop the charges to 7,000. The insurance company did offer to pay 5,500 for the repair and Starnes was unwilling to bridge the gap. Keep in mind, this scope of work should cost $2,500. Starnes will claim safety calibrations are necessary before giving a car back. These safety inspections are sent out to a sub contractor and are $3,500! The dealership will do it for $400. Calibration's cost more than the repair? The only way it makes sense is that Starnes has ownership interest in the calibration subcontractor. I discourage anyone from using Starnes. I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. They would be better to bulldoze the operation and sell the land. It's a pariah in the community. STAY AWAY.Service: Body & Trim
Due to the lack of cooperation from the insurance company wanting to use aftermarket parts, not wanting to cover safety inspections and short rental times, it did take some patience with the repair process. Starnes did go to battle for me to deliver a safe and OEM vehicle repair!! I also commend the Starnes Team for going above and beyond to help minimize my out-of-pocket cost, if any above the insurance coverage. If you want your repair completed back to manufacturer quality and safety standards, take it to Starnes Collision Center!!!!Service: Body & Trim
Starnes Collision Center is top notch...The Starnes family is a longstanding asset to this Charlotte community and have built an auto body and repair business that is 2nd to none. Efficient, transparent, fair, and excellent quality of work that is based on integrity and built to last....Thank you Casey and your team for the work you did on my RAM and for being a trusted leader in this industry..Service: Body & Trim
Just perfect! Communication threw out the process was on point from the first time I used the shop for personal fender bender hit and run. I work in sales at VW of South CLT and we do not have a body shop. So when unfortunate incidents happen to any of my customers I ask them to reach out to KC. To the extent KC the owner has asked me to ask my customers to reach him directly. Thanks for all you do, hard to find people who care and take pride in what they do. Wish you all the best, happy holidays!Services: Body & Trim
KC Starnes Autobody, now "Starnes Collison Center" held our car hostage for three weeks, trying to charge us amounts ranging from 3k to 10k for a repair; the dealership, which is usually the costliest option, bid $2,500. We have had to rent multiple cars over this period while Starnes continued to hedge on costs, run up surprise new bills with the insurance company, and then drop the bill back down by over 3k out of hand. I don't know what happened to KC Starnes Auto Body when it changed hands, but I urge you never to use this place. There is some shady back-door stuff going on when they can take on or take off 5k on a whim. When I called for service in July, they didn't have any openings until October-- if they are holding cars for weeks to run up bloated bills and force insurance companies to pay wild, fees while they take a cut from the business doing “safety scans,” no wonder it takes so long to get cars into their shop. I wonder who else's car is being held hostage right now! My insurance company recently dropped them as a provider for this very reason, and it seems they’re trying to punish my insurance company by taking it out on us. Whatever scheme they are running over there, you want to avoid it! You will spend thousands in rentals just waiting for them to see how much they can gouge you for. BE ON YOUR GUARD. Overall, 0/10, DO NOT RECOMMEND.Services: Body & Trim
*STARNES COLLISION CENTER ROCKS!!* I was rear-ended while at a stoplight by someone with no license. They were driving their boss’s car, who thankfully had terrible insurance. The team at Starnes worked diligently to assist me through dealing with the insurance company and they were very supportive through the stressful days. They did a beautiful job on the repair work and my car looks and drives like she’s brand new. GAWD I missed her and I’m so thankful to have her back! If you are looking for a business with integrity and a phenomenal team, GO TO STARNES!
Starnes Collision is amazing at making sure vehicles are repaired back to pre-accident condition and they have the documentation to provide the insurance as to what the manufacture says. The process took time but the final product was outstanding.Service: Body & Trim
These guys are on top of their game. Great experience and highly recommended. You can tell they are passionate about their craft and when I was rear ended in a brand new truck I wouldn't have trusted anyone other than starnes to bring it back to brand new condition. Thanks.
