This restaurant was good. Food was excellent and the best thing about this restaurant is that it has a fusion of cuisine. Tried their biryani and loved it. It was not spicy. Rice was fragnant and well done. Chicken was well seasoned. Prices are also very reasonable.

I met friends for lunch here. As I was running behind they ordered for me so it would be there when I arrived. As I couldn't see the menu over the phone I got a Gyros and fries.
I can say that it was very good. They have a Tandoori over so I had the regular pita switched out for naan bread.
I will definitely try this place again and go for something way different than the gyros.

+JMJ. Today, Saturday 7April2018, was exceedingly pleased to find this restaurant as a friend and I were searching for a place to eat before returning to Cottonwood. A poster featuring a gyro caught my eye and the rest is outstanding, fine dining history. Our welcome was warm enough with an invite to select seating of our choice. We chose a small table near their restaurant front windows. This eating establishment is small, neat, and tidy with lots of middle eastern decor. There is even a TV in a corner. Regrettably, my phone battery had died so couldn't take any photos but that is just another reason to return for a meal. And, speaking of meal, my friend and I found it challenging to select from their menu because everything looked so delicious. The menu features a photo and decription of all items served which is a plus for those unfamiliar with their middle eastern and Indian (of India) cuisine. Along with what they call Afghani Specialties, Biryani dishes, Curry dishes, Gyros, Samosa appetizers, and Kabobs ~ lamb, chicken or beef, they also serve Fried Fish and chips, and Burger Wraps ~ chicken, beef. My friend and I selected our meals. He ordered the Mantoo, an Afghani Specialty. This was a large plate of melt in your mouth dumplings filled with ground beef and onions topped with a light meat sauce drizzled with yogurt sauce and sprinkled with mint leaves. It was eyes rolling to the back of your head YUMMY!!! (I ate only a few pieces but could have devoured his entire meal, plate included! 😉) And, for myself, I ordered the Gyro Plate, which was a large plate filled with brown rice, topped with lots of slices of tender, deliciously seasoned beef. There was also a large serving of french fries and a generous portion of a salad made of finely chopped cucumber, tomatoes and cilantro. They also provided two small containers of tazaki sauce. It was a meal large enough for two people. My friend sampled the beef and found it very tasty though he himself is not much of a meat eater. I enjoyed my meal very much savoring the beef and rice drizzled with the tazaki sauce. The fries were tasty, not greasy at all nor were they salty. And, lastly, the salad was very refreshing with crisp crunchy veggies and a hint of cilantro. I LOVED my meal and hope that when I am able to travel again with my friend, we will stop in to try some of their other cuisine. Oh, something else, the pricing of their meals is better than many fast food restaurants. Khyber Halal Restaurant will be more than worth your time and money spent.
Today, Saturday 5 May 2018 my friend and I returned to Phoenix to participate in Church devotions and Holy Mass. Also, we wanted to celebrate his birthday by enjoying a special meal. So, we decided to return to this family owned restaurant. (I wish they had one in Cottonwood because I would probably eat there often!) This time my phone was charged and ready to take photos. Since plenty photos of the restaurant's interior are posted here already, decided to showcase our meals. He had the Badanjan, eggplant topped with a yogurt sauce and sprinkled with fresh cilantro, served with a generous portion of Naan bread. I selected the Boneless Chicken Tikka Masala (Curry medium spicy) which came with the Naan bread. Just LOVE me some eggplant; so, my friend and I shared a sampling from our meals. The eggplant was a yummy, delicious mixture of baked (?) eggplant, onions, cilantro and unidentified middle eastern spices. The chicken was served in a rich, tomatoey sauce with just the right amount of spicy heat that made my stomach radiate a soft warmth. The medium thickness Naan was toasted crispy brown on both sides and had soft, chewy insides. It complimented both meals and the portions were so generous that I was able to take home half my meal and all left over Naan!! Going to be a GREAT after Church meal tomorrow morning! 🤗🍽 We chose a dessert called Gulab Jaman. These are two small deep fried batter balls saturated in a semi sweet syrup. Very tasty!
