Lovely exhibits of many styles, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and very nice little gift shop. Parking is a bit limited, and on busy days you may need to resort to parking in one of the nearby garages or the lot beneath the overpass, but the museum is certainly worth the small inconvenience. This was one of the places my girlfriend and I visited on our first date, and it was an all-around wonderful experience. Given that it has no absolutely no admission fee, you'd be depriving yourself if you didn't visit at least once, and if you enjoy it, I'd recommend donating to the museum to support such a beautiful cultural beacon at the heart of the city.

This is a free museum, but it's still well maintained. The permanent collections were nice, and I liked the collection that featured artists from the region. The lady at the front desk was very knowledgeable, and she informed us about the entire museum before we set off to explore. I highly recommend this as a stop if you're visiting Knoxville.

The Southern Impressionists exhibit is worth a visit all on its own. Catherine Wiley's work is moving in person. That said, some of the other permanent collections are a choice... a friend described it as, "Maybe, as a well to do society woman, if I leave a bunch of weird knick knacks in my house when I die, they'll put them in a museum." Harsh, but sadly true. Staff are great though, and won't steer you too aggressively to the more, "She paid for the building" work.

Attended a children's event. So much to do and well planned! Loved walking through the displays. It was nice to see so many volunteers involved. Can't wait to go back.
