Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian is a dynamic multi-racial, multi-cultural church nestled in the center of Brooklyn’s historic Fort Greene neighborhood. Fort Greene has been described by both the New York Times and Paris Match as the most exciting and vibrant neighborhood in Brooklyn.
We are called by that Gospel to create a space where people of any faith or none can question and discover the sacred in life through openness, honesty, laughter and prayer. We especially minister to those who have had a bad experience or no experience with organized religion.
We are called by the Gospel to welcome and celebrate human diversity – including spirituality, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation. As a “More Light” Church, LAPC receives all persons into the life of the church. LAPC is also an Environmental Justice Covenant Congregation, whose members have made a commitment to environmental ministries through all aspects of congregational life.
We are called by the Gospel to a common commitment to be in active solidarity with the forgotten and marginalized people of the US and the world. We are called to cherish Creation and work for its restoration.
