Reclaimed land converted into a nature park. Every time we go to this park additions and improvements have been made. Great for kids. Opportunities for long term bird watching, which is very relaxing. Take binoculars to watch the herons standing on their nests high in the cypress trees in the water. Easy to walk paths. The signs are a little confusing. It would be great if it could be made possible to continue the walking path across the dam to make one large circuit possible without having to retrace steps. Maybe this is in the "master plan". It all costs money and a tremendous amount has already been spent (invested). I have to believe that the property values for those residential properties on the south-west side (Fork Shoals Road side) have been improved significantly by the development of this park. What has been done thus far is excellent. Great place to bring the dog too, though the grassy areas surrounding the parking lots are dog feces mine fields. But, what can you do?

Parking by the nature center entrance was a bit tricky to find, it resembles a large driveway by a small, old house with minimal signage. The nature area is amazingly well maintained. Nice paved paths, boardwalks and wide trails. Occasional benches & lots of signage describing the abundant natural resources and local history. Great for walking, running, hiking or biking.

This park is a good afternoon excursion with kids. It gets a little buggy because it is built on wetlands, but the trails are well preserved and the nature walks are attached to an area with a large playground. We parked at the Belmont fire department parking lot and took the flat tail trail into the park. The trails are marked, but it is easy to get turned around your first time. Some of the trails are okay for mountain biking, but it’s mostly flat. This is a very good area for birdwatching.

Great walking trails. Plenty of them so you don't always have to walk the same ones. Dog park area is fantastic. I wish more people brought their small dogs here. A lot of the time, my dog is the only small dog there.

This park is always clean. I love the walking trails. There are plenty of restrooms, and a great place to have a gathering, especially with or for family. They also have a separate fenced in dog park, which is great for safety.
