Very nice place. Camping was nice, boating was very good, fishing was OK. The lake is huge and there are a ton of places to go and too many things to see. The swamp areas of the lake are amazing ecosystems that are completely different from the main lake. Great place to kayak with so many places to go.

Lake Marion, named for Francis Marion (the Revolutionary War hero known as the "Swamp Fox"), is the largest lake in South Carolina. It has excellent fishing and is known for its landlocked striped bass. Great camping is available at Santee State Park.

This is a beautiful lake. Be careful of stumps and stay in the channels. Santee State park has a good landing to launch from.

Despite the alligators and tree stumps... I love this Lake! The gators Haven't ever bothered anyone that I am aware of.... But with a child the size of Santee catfish, I can't ever be too cautious with them in the water. As far as the stumps... Thanks to all locals, kind visitor's and angler's, they have all been pretty much marked in some kind of way. Lake Marion is definitely the Inland sea of South Carolina... Fish of many different species are massive! Finding them is the real challenge....

Great lake for fishing, boating and hunting. Plenty of public access/landings and worth the trip to check out.
